Hi, I was just wondering if any one has tried or is on an anti-inflammatory diet :)

I eat a basic anti-inflammatory diet by following Dr. Fuhrman's Eat to Live plan and by cutting out processed foods, dairy, and meat. I know I won't grow any scalp hair, as I've been AU for too long, but I have recently grown eyelashes for the first time in years, and my eyes have really improved. I say go for it, but do it for your overall health and not just in the hopes that you will grow hair. :)
How long have you been on the diet?
Lori, thanks for the input, I know, like you it won't help me as I have had no hair since I was 12, but my daughter has just lost all her hair, so I am looking at the two of us doing it. Hopeing it might reverse hers or help with her other auto-immune problems, and I will do it in support with her.
And yea we can always do with improving our overall health :)
I am considering going on some sort of diet like this with my daughter this summer to see if it helps. I still need to do more research.
I've been following the Eat to Live guidelines for 2 weeks and have lost over an inch off of my waist and around 9 pounds. I feel great and have lots of energy. Immediately after cutting out dairy, I started to breathe better...noticeably more oxygen.
http://www.drfuhrman.com/default.aspx will give you an idea of what this style of eating is like.
Two of my doctors are following this style of eating. Both are in their 50s and both are off all of their medications (BP and cholesterol). I'm 57 and my test results for medications were "borderline." I figure that if I follow this plan, I won't need those nasty medications that might cut your cholesterol while destroying your liver in the process.
I can tell you that my arthritis is greatly improved, and I still feel some discomfort, it's not to the point that I even need to take Motrin at this point.
Thanks for the link Lori, looks interesting, will have a read.
As my Daughter is in the early stages of her alopecia and thyroid problem, I am hoping this direction will help her.
ps: well done on the weighloss and improving your health, you should be proud.
I am 44 and been eating this way, for most part, since I was in my late teens. My weight is stable etc but my AU developed and remains with me. I have severe arthritis which I wish was controllable by diet but I notice pain fluctuates no matter how I eat. Potatoes are the food that make my pain soar...but as I said I eat very carefully and not ever had regrowth. My Au developed 10 years ago while I running marathon, consulting a dietician and eating non inflammatory foods.
You have really confirmed what I have been thinking. The trigger for AU is different for everyone and diet may or maynot help.
Yea, thinking the same Karen.
