Anyone have CMC autoimmune disease?

Our daughter lost 1/3 of her hair before we figured out she had a zinc deficiency and were able to reverse it. Her hair has completely grown back but I notice that anytime I stop the zinc for a week or two it starts to thin out and she gets sick a lot. She's been very sick this winter and I took her to a doctor who said we should test her for an autoimmune disease called Chronic Mucocutaneous Candidiasis which includes alopecia as a symptom. Just curious whether anyone else on here has that, how they got diagnosed, etc.

I have not heard of this condition before. Autoimmune diseases tend to cluster. Does your daughter have any other symptoms?

Yes she does have other symptoms and yes it is a blood test. We were referred to a geneticist at Children's and it will take awhile to get an appointment for that but I can report back. I think a key to this disease is skin infections and inability to fight off candida infections. If you don't have those two issues it probably is not CMC. If you have those two plus alopecia and thyroid issues, it might be a very good idea to ask for the test.
