After entering college I started losing my hair again rapidly. I struggled with the emotional and psychological impacts of this for the past three years and resorted to wearing hats every single day. Hiding my alopecia made me feel very poorly about myself and I wrestled with the decision to openly shave my head for a long time. After removing some toxic people from my life including my romantic partner, I made the decision to shave my head during a fundraiser for St. Baldrick's Foundation and raise money for research into childhood cancer. Now that I have embraced my alopecia and "come out" to the people in my life, I feel so free and at peace with myself. I haven't felt this beautiful and confident in a very long time and I want to encourage all of you who are dealing with this same struggle to "come out" and embrace your true self =)

I truly do feel so beautiful now that I am bald and I am just loving it, this is the way I was meant to be. In the words of Lady Gaga, I was born this way and I am beautiful in my way. It's not a scary or bad thing to be bald and it can feel wonderful to challenge society's idea of beauty by embracing who you are with confidence.

Just thought this discussion feed could use a little more upbeat bald pride to balance out all the shame =) have a prideful day!

You are one beautiful bald woman, as is my alopecian wife. You have great features for the bald look.

Yes, wear your bald look with pride.

Doll yourself up, put on your makeup, a pair of long dangle earrings to compliment your look, and put on a sexy dress, maybe with a fashion scarf draped over one of your shoulders, and go to town young lady.

I can assure you many men out there love a beautiful feminine bald lady. Which is one reason, amongst others, that alot of female rock singers and female fashion models are shaving their heads and wearing the bald look these days. Best to ya young lady.

Wonderful story!!!  You are beautiful.  I love the Lady Gaga quote.  I haven't ever thought about my being bald like that, but it is true!  I was born this way, and I am beautiful in my way.  I have AGA.  I wear wigs, hats, scarves and go bald.  I have hair so I have to shave my head when I want to go bald.  It feels free.  I like it!  As long as you feel good and beautiful, that is all tha tmatters.  You go girl!!

Yes! You express some of what I feel, that only by embracing myself as I am can I truly feel good about myself. Stay beautiful. :)

I didn't know that Lady Gaga is bald. Does she have alopecia or shave her head for fashion reasons?

Girl,

You are beautiful. You could wear a turkey on your head and get away with it. LOL I like your eyebrows too. How do you do them? Perhaps they are the real deal. I'm only assuming you have totalis. I'm fair skinned and it seems difficult to get them to look natural. And, I work under florescent lighting all day. Eww! I like to wear my wigs cuz I get so chilly and it's just fun to do all different hairstyles like I always did with long hair. My husband kisses my head when he catches me without my hair. I just prefer the hair for me and my chilliness. LOL : )

Fantastic post. I really don't check into this site enough , I guess, because I completed missed your post here. Wynter. Thank you for these confident words.  I think the "coming out" occasion at the fundraiser was a great opportunity to move forward, indeed.  I hope you're doing well.
