I wanted to share a happy story. My 8 year old daughter was invited to apply to be a participant in a State Beauty Pageant. She went to the event wearing her sparkling dress and fabulous shoes and completely bald. She walked up confidently and looked around the room and told me that she so has this competition in the bag. She went for a one-on-one interview. They were to cut 50% of the applicants. Well, last night we got the phone call that she made the cut and she will be competing on stage this summer.

She's beautiful. What confidence! I am sure you r uber proud. Congratulations. She's inspiration ...
Thanks. I don't think she is going to go to the actual pageant. She wants to go to the Alopeciapalooza more on the same weekend. The thing I like, as her Mom, I want to give her as many confidence boosters as possible, so when she is a teenager, if she ever is sad about not having hair, I can remind her that a Beauty Pageant accepted her and she wasn't wearing a wig.
This morning, I was telling her the story of how Prince Charles's true love was Camillia, not beautiful Diana. He loved Camillia for her intelligence and found Diana boring even though she was beautiful. I want to give her as many messages as possible about what true beauty is really about.
And the Beauty Pageant that she was doing, for the other Mom's reading this that are interested, is called National American Miss Pageant. They judge mostly on confidence, public speaking, formal wear, community service. No make-up under 12 allowed and no bathing suits. I took her because we got a letter inviting her and I thought it would be fun for her to go
congratulations to her and well done on her confidence :D x
