Hi everyone,
Well today was the day, I got my Follea Gripper, and shaved whats left of my hair, I was so surprised to see how little bio hair I really had, and how many more spots I had than I could tell. my husband was a bit upset that I wanted to do it, and I asked him to leave the room, when it was just me and the lovely gal who had finished cutting and styling my "new hair" we had a few moments to pause before the clippers got to work, it was shocking, and I had a moment of tears, but I'm so happy I did it. The Gripper looks fantasic, a tad bit darker than my own hair, but she said that it would fade a bit like my own colored hair, just take longer, like maybe a year, but I would see it lighten up some, I still have the option of doing some touch ups with it if I still felt it was too dark, she cut it on the longer side too, but very much in my prior style, I was amazed at how much it looked like my hair, when I had it all!! Actually looks like my hair color when I first color it, I go to work tomorrow, and I'm hopping I will feel comfortable, most knew I was doing this, so no surprises, except how good it looks. I've never been so relieved. This feels so secure, nothing like the "wig" I had, which slipped and rode up on me. No more fear of the wind! No more wearing hoodies or hats in 80 degree weather, I can take a walk whenever I want, I can sit in a crowded room and not worry that someone can see where I don't have hair. Heres to.... rolling down the window of the car! Going to the ocean, without fear! Getting caught in the rain! Not using half a can of "all nighter" hairspray! Not letting Alopecia control my life!

Christine, keep us all posted. I was awaiting the arrival, also. OK, so did you HAVE to shave to wear the Gripper? Or was it your choice to do so? I so hope you are happy with it, and continue to be happy with it. I want to hear all about it. Good luck!

Hi Lexi,
No I did not have to shave in order for the gripper to work for me, for some reason tho I was aware of my lump of hair in the back, and I'm so glad I shaved it, Lexi, I thought I had lost maybe 50% plus of my hair, the truth is that my best guess would be I lost about 80% I only had white ones on the bottom back and around and above my ears, and knew I had some spots on the upper hair, but It's truly shocking how little hair I had. She didn't actually Shave but buzz cut it to about half an inch, this is going to sound weird but I feel so much better without it....crazy right? I even made Ken look at my head..lol I took the gripper off for a rest (don't know why) and put my little cotton skull cap on and told him "you won't believe this I have an adorable head" haha we laughed but he said he still wishes I had not felt I had to cut it all off?? I may feel differently in the future but right now I feel it was the best thing for me. No more hair all over the place everyday for one. The best thing is I don't have to worry anymore about the AA, and thats great, now I just have it, but it doesn't have me, Does that make sense? Thank you so much for supporting me with your kind words through this time, and great advice. overall right now as of day one I'm pleased with my Gripper cool.

So very happy you are thrilled with your new hair. Wear it proud and feel like the woman you know that you are !!! Now, you can feel so much better about yourself, getting dressed up and feeling like your hair finally matches the outfit!! Keep us all posted - trust me, we are all excited (and maybe even envious, sorry ...LOL) !!!

Christine, I am so happy for you. I may be faced with the same decision soon and you are an inspiration. I have a feeling my hair is also a lot worse than I realize because what is there covers the areas that are missing. Good luck at work.

Christine,

I am so glad you love your gripper. The hair is beautiful.

I am sure you will get lots of compliments on your hair.

It is so nice not to let Alopecia control your life. I know exactly what you mean.

Christine, How is it going? Are you wearing the new wig every day?

Well, it's been a few weeks now, and everyday I feel more confident, I have to remind myself that when someone compliments my hair I don't have to tell them!?! Now I just say thank you. There are several people I told before hand, I felt more comfortable that way, I new those close to me would know anyways, as my bio hair had gotten so bad. I'm very happy with my piece, the color is great, and the cut is very close to my original, just thicker and better. Still getting the hang of styling, but that's getting better too. I really don't think anyone would know, if I hadn't told them,
and I don't think anyone would suspect ever, if they did not know before hand. Buzzing what was left was the best thing I ever did! I may look into a vacuum piece as my second one, but I'm really happy with this one:)
