I bought a wig about a month ago, and although I love it, I think the cap is a little too big for me. I went for the "normal size" but I guess I must have a little head (my brain is obviously quite condensed & therefore more efficient... Hee hee.). It seems to bunch and bulge a bit above my ears, as well as at the nape of my neck.
I'm concerned that this makes the hair look waaay too thick, and so makes it really obvious it's a wig. I'm not sure if it is an issue or if it's just that my hair has been thinning for so long, I can't tell what normal should look like anymore.
Is it possible to adjust a cap after the fact, or do I just live with it until I can afford a new "made to measure' wig? I bought this wig in the US (I'm an Aussie) so I can't easily take it back for an adjustment.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Mhairi! I have a petite head, too, which makes buying "off the rack" wigs difficult. I do it anyway, though, because after years of trying to look "normal," I've gotten adventurous in my old age. I like to switch styles and colors and to play with "fashion" wigs. Today, I'm blonde with dark roots. Last night, I was a strawberry blonde, and the night before, long brown hair. Unfortunately, the fashion wig makers don't make very many attractive "youthful" styles in petite, so I buy the normal size, which usually bulges over the ears and nape, as you experienced. Sometimes, as is the case with the Raquel Welch/Gabor memory cap, the cap will miraculously "shrink" a bit to your head shape after you wear it for a while. You can also try applying some Got2B Glued spiking creme to your scalp before putting the wig on. That will help it gently stick to your head and smooth out some of the bulges. Also if your wig has ear tabs with wire in them, pinch the ear tabs slightly so they bend toward your face to take out some of the excess around the ears. Another thing you can do, if the wig style permits, is take small tucks in the cap with needle and thread. Do this in very small tucks all around the cap so that you don't wind up with lumps in the wig.
