Hi all. I have had alopecia areata for 2 and a half years and in that time my "crop circles" just keep moving around my head. I currently keep it short to a no.1 on my clippers but do i take the bald (sorry!) step to shave the lot off. Was a big step getting it cut short to the no 1 it is now.

You are way ahead of me on the bravery stakes. I'm still in cover-up mode.

Do you think taking it all off will help you deal with the AA and take the stress away from dealing with spots appearing/expanding????
Hi Robert. Glad to be your friend. Thats a very good question. I think the problem i have is now i see a very short hair cut with patches or circles but at least ive still got my hair line for now, so completly shaving it would change my apperence even more. I guess you just dont know what your look like!
Speaking as a woman, I find bald men sexy. Just sayin'...
Thanks very much for your comments. I'm glad i found this site to air my thoughts. its good that there are people to share this info with.
Hi Paul. Check out the current issue (or maybe last week's) of People magazine. There's a super-sexy photo of Andre Aggazi on the cover. Totally bald, and smokin' hot. I'd say, go for it.
Mary again - I mispelled Agassi's name. Also, just found these links:

The People magazine article is apparently in connection with his new autobiography in which he talks about drug addiction among other things....including his baldness and struggle to conceal it before finally shaving his head.
Wish i had his looks and money!!!
You don whatever you are comfortable with, Paul. I think men look good with or without hair -- truly!
Women look pretty good without hair, too! ( ;-)
My daughter CK told me she was ready to shave what was left of her hair this past week and quickly made the decision to not wear a beret to school any longer the very next day. She is only 7 and has the courage of a lion. If she can do it Paul so can you, see her updated photos. Good luck.
Hi Paul - I checked out your pics and I think you should shave it clean. My husband has been shaving his head once his hairline started receeding when he was in his twenties, and I think he looks great. It is a popular thing these days. I think you'll feel alot better once it all comes off. I know that the ladies love rubbing my husband's head and feeling how smooth it is all the time!

Good luck!
Well, Couple of weeks ago i finally got the razor on it and shaved the lot off, feels alot better now, Anyone have any ideas how best to keep it smooth as the stubble is back the following day! eg types of razor etc.
