So I just started dating this guy and this is my first relationship. He doesn't know about my alopecia and he keeps touching my hair. He wants to put it behind my ear and move it and always asks me why it feels weird. What should I do? Nobody in school knows about my alopecia and I don't want to tell him yet because this is only our second date. Any suggestions?

When I'm out with anyone, I just tell them the truth about my hair.   Once I was talking with a man out in a bar who said, "Will you do me a favor?"  "Will you take that off?"   I had on a fall wig which has  a head band attached to it.  I went  so far as to partly remove my hair piece to prove that I really did have a disease and got, "Oh God! Put it back on."    The difference though is that I was up in my twenties and thirties before I got it badly enough to wear wigs.  I think older people are less judgmental.    I have gone completely public with my hair loss and have let people think and say whatever they want.

I had a similar situation to yours. When I started working at Samedaypapers, I'd met a guy. At first, I didn't tell him anything, but then I decided: "if he really likes me, he'll accept everything." So, this is my suggestion to you.

Hi Katie and thank you for sharing this- I hope you find the strength to do what you figure out. The advice below is very supportive.

My name is Brent and I'm not actually qualified to comment. I am infact a student from Auckland, New Zealand trying to gain an understanding of customer service/ management blah blah in the Wig industry. I don't work for any Wig company past or present. I am trying to ascertain what the customer experience is like in this industry.

I was wondering if you could please even give two words to my following three questions. Every thing is confidential but if you wanted to find out if I am bonafide I have joined a wig wearers support group on FB. Ie I'm real

Q1: What are the problems, if any, that you have as a Wig wearers experienced?
Q2: What are the problems you experience from Wig suppliers/ retailers?
Q3: What support do you receive from these Wig suppliers/ retailers, if any?

I hope I don't offend you in any way for asking these questions

Much appreciated in advance!
Brent Cairns

I really feel you, I've been here.
Right now we're bound to our houses, so I only meet people online. I'd use free personals from time to time too. It really helps to gain confidence. But again, you should feel comfortable in the first place, not them.
