I am so sad, you guys! I have had alopecia for 3 years, and I have had a lot of success with the Louis Ferre Petite line of wigs.
Well, I finally decided to branch out and try a new brand and style - Jon Renau Petite "Alia." It arrived today, and it's AWFUL! There is no hair in the front! It's just material and a bunch of little holes where hair is supposed to be. The side of the wig is very sloppily assembled, so that I can't tuck it behind my ear.
I bought this from Wigs.com, which is a different company than I usually deal with (loriswigsite.com, which is a great company!) I talked to wigs.com customer service today and pray they refund what I paid, in full, because this wig is unwearable.
I guess I'll stick to the Louis Ferre line!
I also had bad luck with my first wig, Raquel Welch "Embrace." I didn't have time to return it because I was DESPERATE. I was suddenly completely bald so I had to make do with a poor quality wig until I could get another wig.
Thanks for letting me vent! There is such a limited selection of Petite wigs, and I had high hopes for the "Alia"
UPDATE 7/11/12: It turns out there was a manufacturer's defect in the Alia! I was given the choice of a new Alia or a different wig. I chose my old standby: Louis Ferre "Jennifer" Petite. I'm too afraid to try a lace wig when the monofilament works so well for me. I don't want to be disappointed twice! Will post a picture of my new wig before I cut and thin it. Thanks for explaining lace wigs to me and sharing your experiences.

My rooted Embrace (blond with dark roots) has been doing well by me! I only buy in shops where I can try them on and look at the construction.
Now that's just drop dead gorgeous on you, TG. Sorry Aimee didn't have the same results.
By the way, what color is that--love the color!
Pale Gold Wheat 14/22SS, I think. Now on sale for $126.95 online. Some sites have deals of bonus wig or product with it.
This is average, heat resistant, memory cap. Adjustable velcro inside.
Aimee, so sorry the wig didn't work out for you and praying you will get a full refund. I've noticed the wigs I've ordered lately have lots less hair and this kinda bums me out. I love the Gala wig by Gabor and I own 3 in the Praline Foil and 1 in the Ginger Mist. Each time I order this wig the hair is less and less, but the price remains the same. I like a much fuller wig. My husband loves the Sandie wig, which is his favorite so that's the one I chose to get married in June 2. Maybe I should just stick to the Sandie wig and hope that they don't try to skimp on hair the next time I order it.
Thanks, Aimee. Are they really trying to save money by skimping on the amount of hair? Would still love to meet you sometime too.
I am so sorry to hear that! You might have received a "lemon". Jon Renau typically has nice wigs. I have seen others have a good experience with the "Alia". I purchase my wigs from galleryofwigs.com. The owner is wonderful, and I haven't ever had an issue with them. You might try a Rene of Paris next time. I think they offer great quality wigs.
If you're not accustomed to wearing lace-front wigs, even the temple-to-temple lace such as that in the Alia can seem skimpy to you. This is particularly true if you are used to heavy bangs, such as the bangs in the Louis Ferre wigs.
I have an Alia, and I think it looks fine....but it is scratchy against my skin, and the synthetic hair is stiff and hot to wear. For the same price, I order custom-made full-lace human hair wigs from a Chinese vendor. They require some oiling with ARGAN oil and deep conditioning with coconut oil once in a while...and sometimes they need a little styling with hot rollers. That's the downside of human hair. But for me, it is just cooler and the soft lace caps are very comfortable.
Interestingly, I order a heavier density in the back than I do around the face. I think it's because even when I cut bangs in, I keep them light. I no longer like the thick bangs since I switched to lace fronts/full lace.
Sorry to hear about the trouble Aimee. Having had alopecia areata for over 20 years, I can't tell you how many "wig duds" I have purchased.
I do hope you get a decent refund (I think wigs.com charges a "restocking fee". I am not sure. I won't order from anyplace that charges a restocking fee.
My advice to you, and all wig wearers is the same: once you find a color and style that you like, buy multiples......I have 7 of the current style that I wear....because you never know when one of yoru favorites will be discontinued, or the quality changes.
