I don't post very often, but I do read a lot of posts, and want to say how much I have allready got help from other peoples posts.
I have a question, I have now totally lost all of my hair and shaved what little sprouts i had off, so now in full time wigs, which I am dealing with as much as anybody can. I am now losing my eyebrows and eyelashes. I am drawing in my eyebrows and luckily my hair covers them, but would like some help on what people use for eyebrows, what are good pencils to use and also what kind of eyelashes are the best. I have no clue how to put them on, so this could be fun.
Thank you for youre help anybody that can.

Terry, thank you, I wear Almay eyeliner, so will have to look for a brow pencil. I am going tomorrow to a lady that is going to give me a 30 minute consultation putting lashes on and taking them off, she told me to bring two pairs of cheap eyelashes and will show me some of the tricks to getting them on right. I have looked into the eyeliner and eyebrows found somebody in Houston that Is supposed to be good and reasonable priced, but I think I will do the eyeliner first that I can cover if they don't turn out great. She said that they will show me pictures of eyebrows that they have done, so I can decide from them. I still have a few eyebrows so I know what you mean about being able to do the pencil with what you have. I am just using a cheap pencil right now, my boyfriend said it looks better than what the man did at Sephora so until i find better will keep using it. I do have bangs so that helps hide them. My doctor has given me a latisse prescription, but am really scared about it, I don't want to pay all that money either when it might not work.
Hi Craig, Thank you for you're post, I looked at you're photo's and they look great, I would never have been able to tell. I went to the derm this morning, had to make a decision on if i was going to continue with Squaric acid, I decided no, I had the same kind of reaction as Georgie in the you tube video, swollen, blisters and swollen lymph nodes. He gave me a perscription for latisse for my eyelashes and eyebrows and when I found out the price I decided that I can put that money away and in 2 months have enough for eyebrows that I won't have to mess with. I will wait a little while as i still do have some of my eyebrows left, will wait until they are all gone. I am at that point that I want off the roller coaster ride and stop with all the medications that help for a while, but then i seem to lose it again. I am sure that I will be researching again in a couple of months, but for now time to take control of what I can do. Thanks again, sorry I guess I needed to get that out of my system after my doctors visit LOL. Take care Ruthie
Hi Ruthie,
My brows & lashes fell out completely and I struggled to put on lashes/draw my brows in. I ended up going to the make up department in a shopping complex and asked a beautician to help (as I had an upcoming interview) and she was fantastic. She showed me how to do my brows & lashes, gave me tips, showed me a few tricks & gave me a 10 minute free makeover. At the end of it, you could never tell I suffer from Alopecia. She even offered to doll me up the day of the interview. The lady said she had a few friends with Alopecia and she had learned about Alopecia in college so knew how to disguise it well. It was a breath of fresh air. She was a lifesaver.
Hi Amy, can you do them yourself now? I am frustrated. I am sure the more times I try I may get it right. Maybe I need to try another place to try and teach me.
Bald Girls Do Lunch is my favorite shop for my brow powder and Sealer. Thea has researched all types of brow products and if you go to a BGDL event generously shares her knowledge. They hold workshops with professional artists just for women with AA. Her tips for faking a lash line are great. Check out their Signature Collection which is professional quality. I met Thea when I lived in southern California and attended a couple of events there. Changed my outlook on life. blog.baldgirlsdolunch.org is her new beauty and support blog.
