I am still hoping to gather, in a dedicated place, stories of burnout. My first attempt was a separate group but it has got no response so I am wondering if a discussion might be better as this is such a stong group. If you have a burnout story or know of one and can share, I for one would love it. While I greatly appreciate all the information and sharing of the process, I would like to know if the other side really exists---how long did it take and what did you do or not do while it was active.

Hi Denise

Really positive - thank you for this post.

Awake with itchy scalp and looking at rapidly diminishing hairline and eyebrows. They used to be so thick and naturally dark - now patchy and sparse. On here to ask where I can find a specialist who does Microblading in the Midlands, UK?

I have just been diagnosed with FFA and I am feeling lucky that I can still disguise the lost hair. My Derm says its been caught early and
seems to think she has it under control with Doxycycline after 3 months. Has anyone had success with halting it in this timeframe? I still have to continue with the treatment for another 6 months.

Hi Robbie

Good news. :)

Have you lost any hair on eyebrows, arms etc?

Thanks Airam. So far so good with eyebrows and arms. The hair on my arms is quite light but it always has been. I suppose I am hoping to hear similar stories that if caught early you can stop or at least slow the progress. Im wondering if anyone else out there has had a similar response so quickly or am I just wishful thinking?

I was diagnosed 4 months ago.  I have already lost about 3/4 of an inch along my hairline.  I had super thick hair to begin with, but that doesn't matter when your forehead is slick to the scalp.  I have been put on Dutesteride and Rogaine.  I think I just went through the shedding faze because I lost a lot on the sides all of a sudden.  I have noticed that the extreme thinness has started to fill in.  You can't see my scalp as easily as you could 4 months ago.  The Rogaine helps a LOT with giving my hair stability and body.  Not sure what's in it that causes this?  I wake up in a panic every morning and am frightened to look in a mirror anymore.  Dread the day that I have to start wearing wigs.  I hope it burns out before then.  I'm 58.

I noticed my re-ceding hair line about 2-2.5 years ago but this was dismissed by the GP!!! Last Easter I insisted that I be referred to a specialist in hair loss. The referral took over 6 months when they then diagnosed the FFA and since Nov 2016 I have lost a lot more along my front hair line. I also realised that I had very little hair on the rest of my body, plus my once dark thick eyebrows have dwindled to a scraggly virtual nothingness!

I am having a consultation with the Lucinda Ellery team tomorrow as it won't be very long before I will no longer be able to cover up the increasing hair loss. :(
