On Friday, I needed to go shopping. I live in France on the border of Germany and Switzerland and generally go shopping in Germany (cheaper).

It was quite a humid day and getting ready, I asked my 4 year old if she wanted to wear a hat or a headscarf out. She said, "I don't want to Mummy, its too hot", so I thought why not.....I want to let her now take a lead in how we deal with her Alopecia and allow her to be comfortable with her choice.

So we did it, first time in a very public setting with hundreds of people. It was an interesting. The arkward glances, the curious stares, and the down right bloody rude. But stuff them all! She was happy and I have a beautiful daughter.

She was entertaining herself whilst she sat in the supermarket trolleyand I pushed her around the strore. She was pointing to the other shoppers, men and women and saying "she hasn't got much hair", oh look mummy, "he's got no hair like me". She also dealt with the rude starers by simply giving them a very big cheeky grin back and asking them their name in German.

All in all a very positive experience.

That's great, how your daughter is dealing with baldness. She's right! Never stop telling her how nice she is...

She seems to be doing just great- confident and strong. You have given her those qualities. I'm glad it was a positive experience for you too. I know we mothers can't help but worry. Now u can worry a little less.
What a lovely account. Good on you for allowing her to be herself. :o)
Ah the innocence of childhood! If we could all harness her attitude, we'd be set. Great parenting - letting her take the lead on how to deal with it. You're awesome and so is your daughter! :)
Great to hear ! Glad that it went well
