Hi There- After struggling for years to find good quality euro toppers I am thinking about shaving my head and buying a "Gripper 2 Sport Wig from Follea". I was told today at my consult that you can sleep in these wigs. Just wondering if anyone on this site have a Gripper Sport and do they sleep in it?
Thx Sarah

I have one on order, don't have it yet, but I'd be afraid to sleep in it, because I would think that would be hard on it causing it to lose hair and such. Did they say that it would shorten the life of the gripper? Did they tell you that you must shave for it? I was told at my consult that I could leave my hair and didn't have to shave it right away if I didn't want to....but I've heard some conflict on this one.
Hi Christine- yes they said I would have to shave for sure. I cannot switch from a "topepr" to the "gripper" if I cannot wear it to bed. I have three young children in the house who are in and out of the bedroom and my husband is not comfortable (nor am I) - not wearing the hair to bed. I have a little hair left on the sides and in the back of my head which has given me enough to work with over the years so I can wear a topper. I have the topper attached by glue and tape every four week. Until my children are older and I have more privavcy I need to wear the hair 24/7.
Sarah,
I totally understand, I think that one of the reasons that I was told that I could keep my hair or some of it, maybe cut real short, was because my husband was having such a hard time about it, he went with me to the consultation, I don't know how I would feel shaving the rest off either, tho I think I'm losing it all or most of it anyways, I do know that it would be very emotional. Have you thought about getting an inexpensive "night wig" one that looked quite simialr to your "new" hair?? Just thinking that this maybe an option if they feel that you would do better not sleeping in the gripper. This may sound funny, but I told my husband he would never have to see my bald head....he kinda laughed at that one, I remembered that once my Mom got really freaked out that my Dad was home (she didn't have her teeth in) I'm like "so Dads home?" She said "Christine you father has never seen me without my teeth" They had been married forever, and she had false teeth most, if not all of their marriage, I had seen Mom lot's without her "teeth" I just thought it was kinda sweet for her to feel that way. I guess that as a kid my Mom was my Mom, and I never really noticed so much when she didn't have her Teeth in, because it wasn't often, just something to think about with the kids, They Love you so much, and they don't see things the way we do, When they look at you all they see is Beautiful!!! Best of luck to you Sarah, whatever you end up choosing to do, let us know, I'd like to know what they say about the sleeping thing too:)
Hi Christine- thanks for your response. That is a great idea about the "night wig". I think I just have to give this more thought. I am so scared to shave what hair I do have off. I do know I have to make this change as it is getting more difficult to find a topper that works with my hair (what little I have).
I go next week to try the Follea "cool" wig on for the first time. I would of preferred trying the "sport" on but the supplier wasn't able to order this one in on consignment. The supplier said the only difference with the "cool" vs "sport" is the grip itself.
Will keep you posted.

Hi
A lot of the ladies I help no longer have the option to have hair as they are AT or AU or ok about shaving the hair they have.
In my experience it is a very emotional choice to take away your hair, but once made the people who love you ... continue to do so. When my daughter decided to shave her head (it was very late in the process and within a month all of it had gone anyway) I felt no different about her I love her and know without a doubt that she is beautiful - hair or no hair.
As a Mum I would have accepted if my daughter wanted to kept her baldness to herself, but I was so glad to be included in the adjustments she had to make when the last of her hair disappeared.
There is no wrong or right way to do this, just the way that suits you best and I truly do understand how very challenging it can be.
Christine, Please email me at cewstgb@aol.com I have something I want to send you.

I can highly recommend https://dresslily.com particularly if you've got mid to long hair. The wigs are made with real hair and they are very realistic.
Sarah,
I have alopecia universalis and wear a gripper sport. I wore a vacuum for 23 years and just received my gripper.
Let me know if you have any questions!!
Alyce
Hi Alyce ~ can you tell me more about the gripper sport? do you like it better than the vacuum piece? I'm sure it's cooler to wear. Is the hair on the gripper of good quality? I'm looking at different options available and have looked at the gripper sport. I currently wear a vacuum piece, and I really do like it, except it's very hot through summer months to wear and the cost just keeps getting higher and higher. any info you don't mind sharing would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Kim
Kim,
I do love it. It is SO much cooler. The hair is 100% European human hair. The security is amazing. You know after wearing a vacuum how secure they are. I was so pleasantly surprised at the security of the gripper sport.
You can wear your gripper sport in the spring and summer and then the vacuum in the fall and winter. That way you can get double use out of each one. However, once most woman wear the gripper, they never go back.
I would be happy to help in any way.
You can call if you want to. Just send me a private message and I will give you my phone number.
I appreciate the info Alyce and I will give you a call soon. I've added you as a friend, for some reason it woudn't let me send you a message until we were friends. :-) Is there a certain time that's better for you to talk?
Please feel free to call me anytime.
If I am in a meeting, I will call you back.
I look forward to talking with you.
Alyce
