Food for thought: In your case, are hair and nails related? Does hair loss equal poor nail quality?

Ok, so maybe the guys can't relate, but maybe the gals can: Do you know that little feeling of satisfaction when all 10 of your nails are a decent length and none are broken? All the nails just happen to look good. It's one thing if you are slathering or painting growth stuff, but I just noticed I have to trim my toes again, when it seems like I just did them and for some reason all 10 of my nails are the same length and look terrific. My curious mind wonders, then, aren't hair and nails related? Since I'm losing every hair on my head and lots of eyebrows and thinning other places on my body...wouldn't my nails be brittle, thin and weak? I know I certainly see supplements out there that claim to affect "hair and nail growth" grouping them together. Maybe in my case that indicates that the hair loss has nothing to do with my mostly decent vegetarian diet. Maybe those sinister androgens can't touch my nails even though they might love to. And maybe if it is autoimmune or thyroid, my nails just haven't been affected um...yet. No clue. So I want to open it up to others out there and hear what you have to say. In your case, has hair loss correlated with poor nail quality?

This condition affects some people's nails but not others. My daughter has AU but beautiful nails. Some people lose their eyebrows and lashes and others don't. It is random.
When I first was losing my hair, my nails all broke and were a mess. After about three months and adding some natural products to my diet i.e. magnesium PGX and vitamin (not sure if these helped or not but I do feel much better) my nails are now back to their beautiful selves. I have AU and all body hair disappeared in a very short time period :(
The upside is we have really soft sking and dont have to shave our legs! Just trying to make u smile
That is a big bonus Vanilla. I now have the softest armpits lol
I have AU and my nails are fine-UNLESS I use polish and remover. For several years I did my nails only in August-sort of a summer thing- and by mid Sept they were all splitting and sort of shaling-getting white spots that turned into split layers that sort of peeled away-then the whole nail became weak and broke off.

I finally figured out the connection and stopped my pretty summer nails routine.

I don't know if it is the polish or the remover, but I never use either on my finger nails (toe nails are fine with polish so ???)
