Hi!
I dont know if this is a dumb question but can any stylist cut wigs? Or they have to have experience?
Thank you!

It would be best to have experience with them.

Thank you!
I think experience would be best. Kinda an expensive lesson if your wig gets ruined.

However ... the (only) wig person in my town messed up a wig for me by cutting the bangs way too short; basically, she was upset because I didn't purchase it from her. I ended up taking the front from an old wig and adding "blond highlights" around the face.

I had a couple of other wigs to be cut / styled so checked a wig & extension online wholesaler site and found a list of salons in my area. I then started contacting them and asking questions and found a stylist to do my wigs. Haven't gotten them back from her yet, so keeping my fingers crossed in the mean time ...
Thank you! Yes it would be an expensive mistake if they cut it wrong!

I am a hairstylist, and i haven't ever cut a wig. If i had a client to ask me, I would first try to direct them to a person with experience. However, it is not out of the question for me to do it for a long time client. If you've been using the same stylist for a long time, I feel sure they will treat it with extra care and caution. They are used to your style, so they should be able to do the same for the wig.

Thank you!

You're quite welcome. Trust me, this is extremely hard for me to deal with, as I'm sure it is for everyone who has it. Me being a hairstylist, on top of it, is torture. Hope you have success in your purchase.

Cutting wigs is not part of the curriculum in school, and it is very different than cutting normal hair. In fact, there are no license requirements to cut wigs in my state so anyone that thinks they can do it is allowed. Make sure you use someone with LOTS of experience.

Thank you Chris! I thought cutting wigs was part of the school curriculum! Now I know!
