Just wanted to share that this thing has its ups and downs that's for sure. After shaving it off due to depression It is now growing back almost all of it. Amazing thing this is I don't understand it at all. But what is coming back is white? Would anyone know why that is? I am not complaining at all but just wonder.

I have been using hair, nails and skin vitamins gluten free life style and using Alpecin shampoo from the UK.

thanks for reading.

Hi Eileen,
I went in to read your profile, and it looks like you have not had this long right? And it sounds like your first experience with loss was quite extensive. Usually when my hair first grows back it's white, this is quite normal, over time the hairs will develop color. I hope that it all comes in for you, and stays. It also sounds like you've taken steps to watch out for your health, this is always good, even if it doesn't mean getting hair back. I've never heard of Alpecin shampoo, what is it suppose to do for hair loss? I bought a shampoo from Germany called Thymuskin, that was touted as a cure all, cost a ridiculous amount, for such small bottles, It never slowed down my hair loss at the time, and I didn't like what it did to the hair that was left. I will look into this one though, Hope everything continues to look up for you. Congrats on the new hair.

Hi Christine,

Thank you so much for the note back, it is always nice to hear from such caring people. Not it has not been long since I started the loss, but it was a lot fast. I had heard of the shampoo from this site from a guy who was using it and maybe still is he lives in the UK. I feel that most things are worth a try and who knows what will or will not work for us. This shampoo that I am using makes the new hair dry I use it daily. When it comes time to order a new I'll try the conditioner as well. Light therapy seems to help also just sitting in the sun as often as possible for approx 30 or so.

Hugs and I so wish you the best.

Eileen
Congratulations, Eileen! I met a woman with AA whose hair came back solid white, but it was beautiful.

All the best,
Mary
Thanks Mary,

I was not expecting to see any results ever but here it is. Most is coming back, it's nice, but leaves worries of when and or if it happens again and again. Never expected regrowth.

Thank you
Eileen
Hi Eileen,

I'm excited for you.
When I lost all my hair (within 3 months) it started to regrow all white. This is a typical cycle.
My hair is now coming in white and brown. Nothing super dooper yet.....just waiting

Hugz,

Jeffrey
Hugs my dear friend,

Thank you, I understand it to be that the truly bald spots grow in white and most of the time changes.
Anyway at this point I couldn't care less if it were purple.

I will be in Sac by this Sunday to live and work in Lincoln. Would be wonderful to meet you Jeff.

Eileen

Hugs again

I read that the body is actually attacking the pigment in the hair follicle. That is why it comes in white, but usually changes to normal hair color.

According to my derm, it comes back white then falls out and grows as normal pigment hair, but the white hair is a good sign!

All of my regrowth has been white. If it has to fall out to let pigmented hair grow again, all my regrowth would have been for naught. It's been growing since the first spot fell out. Two years growth in the first affected places.

I've had regrowth in order of the fallout so it is now longest and most full where I first experienced the loss. To my shoulders and very full of body and curl. Nice actually. The loss expanded at the edges of fallout and never stopped spreading until it took everything. It's been exactly two years now and I've been keeping all that has regrown and continuing to lose all the dark hair.

The white hair is the victor now, having lost 90% but having regrown my complete right side, back, crown to a length to actually work with now. It's all dyed now and I try to keep up with it.

This is my first experience with the dreaded disease and it's never stopped since it started but also grew back as soon as it fell but in pure white.

Started at age 51.
