Hi All,
I know a fair bit of this has already been discussed before, but I was hoping to get your opinion on one particular aspect of dermal eyebrow tattoos. How real do they look? I'm thinking of getting them done and have been trawling the net looking at pictures, and the pictures that I see look like the brush strokes that make up the tattoo are not very fine. Is this how it is for all eyebrow tattoos, or am I just looking at the wrong sites? And if you have had them done, would you recommend it? As a guy, I feel that noticeably fake eyebrows may not be the best look.
Thanks everyone,
Sam

Hi Sam,

You can see what my tattooed brows look like in the video "Bald Girls ..." on the home page (It says "Parker News Service" on the photo of the video.) BUT, I also have on a slight amount of eyebrow powder to darken the brows slightly. The way they look without powder is a little fainter. I opted for the non-brush stroke tattoos, and am happy with that choice. My tattoos are just solid color, not too large, and a brown color.

I can't tell you that they look like real eyebrows...they don't. But, I think if they're not too dark, they might be okay on a guy. For me, it's better than not having anything there. Men with alopecia have it easier as far as going bald and not having people ask them about their chemotherapy, but it's harder as far as eye makeup since men don't usually wear that.

Good luck,
Mary
Do you know of any men, who have had eye brow tatoo's, with good results, i am just in the process, of trying to get in touch, with Heidi Worman. I couldn't get the pictures of you up on my page, must try again. Kind regards to you Mary,
Karen.
I've only seen the tattoo brows on one person and it had the brush strokes you mentioned. I don't find that they look all that real however she had also just gotten them done and they had some vaseline or something on them still. I've also read an article about a man who'd gotten them done and he seemed quite satisfied with them. Mary has the right idea about getting the solid brows if you're going to do it. There are real stick on eyebrows that you can buy online I believe (sorry, can't help with a link) and I've heard amazing things about them if you feel you must have brows. If you want to be a little on the unique side you can always tattoo something other than brows like words or a line of turtles or something where your brows belong (if it's going to look fake anyways...). Now I'm getting ideas uh oh lol.
Haha....thanks Carol. I was thinking about getting something more stylized done. I think it could work out quite well if done properly. I might just have to practice with a pen first to get the right design!
I had my brows tattooed 18 months ago as the individual hairstrokes and they have faded so much I now have to draw them on over the top again. They did look fantastic though and very realistic when they were darker. I have read elsewhere that people with alopecia sometimes have trouble with the ink taking so they can fade a lot quicker especially if they are the fine hairstrokes, I think the powder brows would last longer and Im going to try these next time.
Hi,

My name is Sophie. I just joined the group. I have had alopcia for a number of years but I just recently lost my eyebrows and eyelashes. I was wondering what are "powder brows" and do you know much about the stick on eyebrows? Also, do you know if there is anything out there for eyelashes?

thank you,

Sophie
Sorry Sophie,
I don't really know about powder brows or stick on eyebrows or eyelashes, but if you have a search through some of the other discussions I'm sure you'll find someone who does.
I've decided to get the tattoo's done, so I'll lt everyone know how they look then!

Cheers

Sam
Thanks for the reply. I have found out some information already.
I'm just rounding up information as I am not yet ready to get them tatooed. I want to wait and make sure they won't grow back in. They fell out about 4 months ago and that's the longest I've gone so far without eyebrows so I'm thinking that was it. They won't grow back in. I also want to make sure I get someone really good at doing the eyebrows. So I will slowly continue my research.

Good luck on your eyebrows!

Sophie
Hi again,

If you go to my profile page, and look at the photo of me "Suiting up on the dive boat" and zoom in on the photo, you will see what my tattooed brows look like without any powder. This was about 7-8 months after I had them done. Then, go to the photo "Performing with my band" and zoom in on the eyes...this is with some powder quickly applied over the tattoo to darken them.

They don't look like real brows, and certainly don't look like my bio brows (visible in the photo " Just after shaving my head"), but they do the trick for me and are easy and always there, giving me some expression.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Mary, I'll have a look right now!
Just had a look. Thanks Mary. it's good to be able to see how they appear on someone. I think it's pretty good to be honest :)
Hi there,
I had mine done about 6 weeks ago, eyeliner too and i love it. If you get the right person, they can draw them on to show you what they will look like first. You need a skilled artist. I visited the salon to see how another persons new eyebrows looked and had mine drawn on.
Its so nice not to worry about it anymore. Good luck.
