I have alapecia/totallis/universal. goes in and out, have one eye with lashes on bottom and somee on top. The other eye they grew back!
The wig
I had been sewing pieces of velcro in any wig I bought. In the front and ear tabs and using tape strips with a softer type of materal on my head (the strip I put on my head was a softer velcro like material on one side and sticky on the other). It's not that uncomfortable and it worked. However for a while I have not been using anything to secure the wig and several wigs ago the wind blew the flippin wig off my head!. LOL!
Does anyone in this A. world know where I can buy dermafix like material to sew into my wig to secure it in place? Can silicone medical material work? I need to secure this darn thing to my head again! I have a very limited budget so a freedom wig, or lacefront probably, I would not choose.
Any words of wisdom is appreciated.

My head is average size. I just would like to have a llittle more movement and am looking to sew the dearmafix type material in the wig like the more expensive wigs come with. That led me to think medical silicone they use in bandages might work. I was wondering what others have tried.
Thank you for you comments
Hi, you can buy a dermafix kit from the wig stie at http://www.wigsite.com/product-p/nswigkit.htm. They ship -- I am in Africa and they shipped to me. Then take some normal thread and gently sew them onto your wig wherever you need it. They work like a bomb! I now wear a Freedom wig but when I was waiting for my Freedom I used these in my wig and it never came off (and I live in a city reknowned for winds so strong they blow buses over)
Thank you I will check it out!
Jamie, can you tell me, at this wigsite site, is this a cap you sew in or strips and which way do they go and how do they hold the wig on? Thank you for your help, nuch appreciated!
Wow you are creative, thank you for the info.!
Thank you, I will check it out!
Hi my name is Nichole and I go by "The Lady" of Lace Wigs. I don't know what type of unit you are wearing but most wigs can be secured with "IT STAYS". It is a roll like adhesive that will keep your wig in place without using tacky glues and tape. I love it for my lace wigs. Please check out my YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/user/theladyoflace
Thanks "The Lady" I will definitly check it out!
Hello, My first concern after reading your note is if your wigs are not fitting properly. That being said, my daughter with AU wears a wig cap and then tapes the side tabs and Front with a double sided tape from Hair Direct. It is called Supertape and it cost about $4.50 cents for 36 strips. Please read my note on my trip to China to find the best human hair wigs possible for my daughter. I am glad to say that I have found a factory that has the best caps and quality hair. My concerns that my daughter always have the best are now at rest. She is 27 years old and lives a wonderful professional and personal life. Let me know if I can assist you any further. I do have access to custom human hair wigs at a price point that is much better then those that are name brands. All my best Lisa
Hello Alo-mom and thank you for your reply. I think the super tape could work! It would have to adhere to a material, probably sewn in wig which I can do myself. I believe from looking around that it is a polyruathane material that is flexable and has some tackyness about it, therefore adhering to a bald scalp. This seems like it would work for one with AU. When your on a budget brainstorming is a neccessity.
May I ask you,
1. Do you happen to know where I could get this type of polyurathane?
and
2. I would be most interested in learning more about the wigs you mentioned for your daughter and if there is a web site I could check out about this? Thank you for all your help and kind words.
Hello,
I would like to send you pictures of the two types of caps that my daughter wears and how she adheres them so that they are comfortable and secure. If you send me your email address I would be glad to do this. I am working with a Factory in Qingdao China .Cathy, the owner, is in the process of becoming a brand. I am helping her with this process. I met her in China and then she came to Los Angeles where I introduced her to several salons. She is attempting to pull out of the individual sales market. She explained to me that this is very hard to do and needs to develop her brand so that when those with medical hair loss go into a salon they can ask for her brand which will cater to the people with Alopecia. My trip to China is what introduced her to the Alopecia community. She is a mother herself and was very taken that I made the trip for my daughter. I have ordered from her several times and the quality of the caps and the hair are amazing.
Regarding the polyurethane I have always had it sewn into my daughters wigs at a salon called Wilshire Wigs in Los Angeles. I have the factory place it on the sides and nape of neck, but on the lace front I have this salon sew it in. I do not have it, but I promise I can get you a sample of it next time I visit Wilshire Wigs and mail it to you. I actually will be going back there on May 23rd because I am assisting the owner of this large company to come to the Alopecia Conference as a vendor in July in Washington DC. My email address is Georged5050@gmail.com and would love to help you in anyway I can. I have made costly mistakes when buying wigs over the years but I am confident now that I have found the best for her at a price point that she can handle when she has to work with her condition on her own. I have finally found piece of mind with this factory. All my best and contact me anytime. Regards Lisa
