My hairloss has increased significantly this past year. I keep telling myself I am so thankful that I have the things I need in life..so why is it so difficult that I am losing my hair. I feel guilty for feeling this way, but I can't help it. I hope joining a site like this help with my issues.
I am on the search for a lace wig. I am afraid of purchacing one and not liking it. I am afraid people will be able to tell. I would love to hear some feed back.
Thank you for listening to my vent session.

Well, yes, this IS scary and confusing. I used to wear the front part of my hair pulled over a "fall" in high school, and forever after wore wigs with bangs. No one has ever had to gossip over my hairline...although, Im sure camera flashes DO light up the shadows and make it more obvious I am wearing a wig in some photographs. Why don't you start with an inexpensive synthetic wig so you don't regret the payment? See my wigs posted on my page. If you buy 2- 3-tone wigs or those with streaks or rooted colors, you won't get that fake shine or overall sameness. Layered styles are also more natural-looking.
How do I go about finding the right place to buy? I don't believe there are any shops around here so I would have to look online. Do you know any reputable websites?
I like the coverage and bangs, as well as rooted colors, of Raquel Welch wigs myself. My blond one is style Breeze, but I comb it different from their photos.
Hey I second that I had this soooo much! however have to get on I guess. I just purchased my first wig a while ago from an australian site. It was ok but didn't last long and wasn't very goood quality. I have done a bit of research and allot of people suggested Voguewigs.com to me. I browsed their site and it has allot to choose from!!! I narrowed it down to two which I have ordered.l The first is a forever young wig sof waves (not expensive at all but they look lovely and the second it erica by amore. I deceded to buy a long and a shortish wig.I thought what the hey I might as well try having long hair as I never have!! :) I am waiting on their arrival any day now I am in New Zealand so pretty much have to order online. I will keep you posted on how they turn out if you like?
I am scared of wigs too but am getting to the point where my hairloss is more obvious and I need something to boost my confidence.
Good luck! I will add you and hopefully you will accept :) Jennah x0
Hi Brittany
I feel like the wigsupport.com spokesperson, but I do recommend that forum. It's all about wigs and hair pieces. You can ask those gals anything. There are long-time wig wearers on there. I learned a lot from them.
As to purchasing, pick web sites with good return polices like voguewigs.com and wigs.com. Those sites also have great videos showing you how to wear wigs, demonstrations of some of the wigs on. It's very nice. I use them because they allow you to return in 10 days and no restocking fee. Some sites don't let you return at all. So be careful.
If there is a wig store around you, schedule an appointment and try some on. You don't have to buy so don't feel obligated.
Fear! Totally normal. Hair IS a big deal. No matter what people may say. Keep talking and reading what others have to say on here. It will help you a great deal and you won't feel so alone anymore.
Hi Brittany. I so understand your fear and confusion and guilt. About a year and a half ago I shaved my head after battling rapid hair loss for over a year. I felt so guilty for "giving up" my treatments and the battle of trying to keep my hair. But it was realizing that I wasnt giving up, I had just switched the focus from seeing only alopecia to seeing myself again. I was fortunate enough that in my city there is a high quality wig boutique that made the wigs with human hair. And I found them to be the most comfortable and natural looking. Even tho now I tend to go without any head covering or I just wear scarfs.
Please keep your spirits up and know that you are among friends
