Hello everyone I just wanted to let people know that as I was browsing the net I found a few web pages where people who have had alopecia have used white/decolorized Iodine as a treatment and have been successful in using this and apparently this dates back for quite a long time but since it is hard to get not many people know about it. Ever since reading this I have done abit more research and on one of the web pages it said that (Everyone needs iodine to produce thyroxine, but the signs of deficiency are easy to spot and treatment can be given. Those more at risk are women at puberty, pregnant women and children) and from what i have been reading alot of women who are/were pregnant and children have alopecia as much as men do. I have also found out that using white/decolorized iodine on a certain area of the body often can cause a rash or redness and i believe that this is a big factor since i have been told by many people including my doctor that sometimes blood cells may become weak and if this happens around the head or body or wherever your hairloss may occur it does not allow the hair to grow properly therefore the hair falls out due to being weak ...the cause of this is still not know but if Iodine can act as an irritant and if it can cause redness in an area which it is used on then more blood flow circulates which i believe may help the hair grow. Now many people have said that alopecia is from the inside and to do with your immune system well this is another thing i have found out ...maybe eating certain foods rich in iodine could help also?

Foods rich in iodine include cod liver oil, seaweed, sea food, kelp and many more but these foods are richest in iodine and personally i do not eat seafood that much even though i like it which makes me think that this could actually be the case and if it is then hopefully it will help with the growth of my hair and maybe even yours!

If you agree with what i have said do some research on this and let me know what you think please and if you have anything else you would like to add please feel free because the only way we could find a solution to this is if we work together.

I brought this iodine question up to my daughter's first dermatologist but they dismissed it and said that salt contains all of the iodine that we need. I think that I may ask again to see if her level can be checked.
