Just found out I have Androgenic Alopecia. Went to 5 Dermatologist and finally had a 2 biopsy's. I started noticing lots of hair loss in Nov and now more and more. I am not only losing hair on my head, but also eyebrows, eyelashes and pubic area. I have also noticed nose and ear hair. The Dr said it is part of Androgentic Alopecia. I think I have something else going on and want to prepare myself for what is in store. I think I have AU starting. Does anyone else have Androgentic Alopecia and have this happening or do you think I have AU. I thought AU is sudden and happens over a few days. If anyone can help that would really appreciate it... Thanks

I have AU and it happened over a period of time. First my hair on my head - started in the round spots - Took about 4 months and I had lost all the hair on my body (eyes, ears, etc).

I was like you and scared that the hair loss was a symptom of something else.

Good luck!
Thank you so much for some answers. How long was the period of time when it stated till it ended?
It sounds like AU because the one thing consistent with this condition is how unpredictable it is.If you need help we are here to answer questions.
Thank you!! I appreciate it. I am sure I will have plenty of questions. I just don't get it. Got married in Sept live couldn't have been better. Then in October the hair loss started on my head. I thought I might in the clear. Then the other hair loss started in Feb. I never know from day to day what I am gonna wake up to.Empty eyebrows and spaces in the eyelashes. Just want it to end. I feel like it has taken the best of me.
Hello! I have AA for five years and has a few months that the drugs don´t work anymore and besides losing almost all of the hair of the head, have lost eyebrows and pubic area. My dr. said that AA is progressing to the level of the AU. But I don´t know if it could happen only as a cicle of AA, I also have doubts...
I have AU and it took 3 or 4 months for all my hair to fall out. It doesn't just come out in a few days, I have had it since I was 15 year old. I am now 22 years old, I can tell you it does suck but as the years go by you will learn to live with it. It took me a long time to be able to accept what happened. For a long time I was not able to look at myself because I didn't want to believe it. But if you need anyone to talk to I will be more then willing to talk. I understand what you are going through.

Did any of you have Androgenic Alopecia ( female/male pattern baldness) that turned in AU. They did the biopsy and said if I had an autoimmune disease then it would have showed on my hair follicle. That the hair follicle would be inflamed. He also said I could have other hair loss when you have alopecia. Eyebrows, eyelashes and other with Androgenic. I am so lost. How could I possibly have Alopecia Areata or AU if doesn't show on biopsy.
When the hair on your body started to go, did you have new growth? I have been losing my eyebrows and eyelashes for almost 2 months now. I can see new growth, but it's thinner then before. I don't know what to think. I can't tell in the eyelashes, cause they take up to 6 months to grow back. How did they diagnose you? With a biopsy? To test for AA? They said I didn't have that, but I have Androgenic Alopecia. What everyone else is saying that it's so unpredictable
