I have aa that has come and gone for a few years now. The latest development is that my upper-left eyelashes have started falling out. It began with a tiny lash-less spot that is now increasing. My dermatologist suggested trying Latisse (bimatoprost) which he sells at $150 for a one-month supply. Before I invested, I decided to visit my eye doctor to get a complete eye check-up and make sure there is nothing else going on (I've never lost lashes before). The good news is my eyes are healthy. (Yay!) The interesting news is that he gave me a free sample of Travatan (travoprost) to try. It is from the same family of drugs but Travatan has not actually been approved for eyelash-growing. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do. Anyone have any thoughts or experiences to share? Thanks!

I used latisse before, and it works given time (I saw results in about 6-8 weeks), but it did irritate my eyes. I used it on my eye lash and eye brow area. My derm said that it works best on people who have AA as opposed to AU and AT, something about how the body is still "fighting" the alopecia in AA, meaning there is room for regrowth (not to say that there ISN'T room for regrowth in AU and AT, but not at a higher success rate as in AA).
