i had my eyebrows microbladed yesterday .  I have frontal fibrosising alopecia.  After she started with the microblading she was having a hard time with my skin on the eyebrows.  She said it was very thick & hard to cut into. That it was common with alopecia skin.  She did her best but said she would have to add some shading in between strokes because she had already gone over the cuts enough times & didn’t want to get too deep,  I am only on day 2 but still very pleased with the outcome.  Has anyone else had this done? & what was your experience as having alopecia ?

Hi Donna - I have AU and in April I had my eyebrows microbladed.  The only problem that I had was a lot of bleeding, but I was taking liver cleansing pills at the time and she said the bleeding was probably because of that and that the color made fade faster (I think mircoblading lasts anywhere from 12-18 months, maybe longer).  Seemless procedure, no bruising or pain.  Two days later I had eyeliner tattooed.  No problems with that either, only a little brusing on my inner lids, but I don't have any eye lashes and she had to create a lash line. The woman that did it was wonderful!  I'm really pleased with the outcome of both. Really makes me feel a little better about not having any hair and a real time saver in the morning :).

My daughter has had microblading done a few times, and it has really helped.  She has been very happy with the results so far.  We go get it done about twice a year.

What exactly is microblading ? Sounds interesting.

akond of  tattoo, looks like natural hair

Microblading is a semi-permanent make-up technique where a special hand tool and color pigment are used to etch hair-like strokes just under the skin’s surface. Microblading can fill in sparse brows or create an entire brow. The 3D effect adds realism to the result, creating brows that look like real hair strokes, rather than a solid block like traditional tattooing method. It lasts anywhere from 1-3 years depending on skin type & some other factors.

I had mine done about a month ago. It is so nice to get up in the morning not looking like an extra in a Star Trek movie. Mine are a little thinner than I wanted but I just use a little brow powder. My technician didn't have any trouble with my skin.

I've had Alopecia Universalis since I was 22 years old. I am now 67. In 2013 I tried permanent brows, which are now faded. I've heard lots of good things about microblading but I have a problem: I've been taking Cymbalta, an antidepressant for years and that reduced considerably my tolerance to pain. Most of the places which offer microblading or permanent makeup do not have a doctor on premises who could give me a local anesthetic. I guess my question is how did you deal with the pain? A local topical anesthetic will not help me at all.

good god i cant even imagine having that for so long you are so strong, i got mine when i was 18 30 now, praying for a cure:/

The way I look at this, Danielle is that if my hair would grow back overnight, I'd be in a shit load of trouble. I wouldn't know what to do and I don't think I'd be ready to pay $100 just to have the tips of the hair cut off. I did the best I could and I live to talk about it and that's good enough for me. My 26 year old son loves to kiss the top of my bald head every time he passes by. I also believe that God is testing us and I'm fine with that. I'm just now looking into more expensive wigs but only yesterday I ordered a $29.00 which looks beautiful. I also pray for a cure, especially when I see kids dealing with Alopecia. Hang in there. At the speed the new technology and medical discoveries are going, we will soon see something very simple as an antidote to this horrible disease.
