My teenage boy, on Xeljanz for a few years and it's suddently stopped working

Hi everyone,

Some sad news to report. My son Billy who is 15 , a patient of Dr King for over 3 years went from nothing to just about 95% hair , with a few tough spots that didn't fill in.  Obviously we were thrilled with the amazing progress and all know Dr, King is a wonderful man.

Recently however over the last 2-3 months it's  reversed and really starting to fall out.  We're devastated naturally and heart broken.

We visited recently and Dr King, who put him on minoxidill in hoping that would help.  Has this happened to anyone on Xaljenz before?

Thank you,

Bill

No, but I've read that when this happens it can just be a bad episode just like a bad episode of RA. and can/should return to normal.

xeljianz is not good. try ruxolitinib.dr. king is pfrize. try apremilast

Ruxo works better but side effects are worse and costs way more. Cannot comment on the other drug. Xeljanz works very well.

Who said ruxo works better?

I keep hearing this here. They both work similar... the story above is common with autoimmune disease. Don't forget we build tolerance to drugs ... now for example they could switch to another biologic to see. I tried both ruxo and xeljanz. They both work similarly for me but haven't had the acne with ruxo.

Good luck and keep us updated

I think the studies they've released they saw better results.

True... by a very small percentage... but the study had 12 patients...

We are lucky to have options now... dam I remember what it was 10 years ago

Hi Fenster,

As hard as it is try not to stress. As stress will make it worst. You could up the dose to stabilise it, you could also add some vitamins in and meditatation as I heard that can help. And also remember some hair does naturally fall out due to how the hair cycle works. And maybe get a steroid shot. I’m not a doctor but hope something works.

Just to add Susan on here who has her own thread you can look it up, also had an episode of hair fall and she thought the worst however she realised she was going through a stressful time and then she started to relax and meditate etc and her hair stabilise and started growing again.

Please keep us updated.

Kind regards

return life, could you please do me a favor contact dr.passion in france (the il2 doctor, for the trail on apremilast for vitiligo because there is a success case.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and suggestions.  Dr King is doing his best so we will continue to pray.
