I have the whole pitted fingernails going on and when my hair starts coming out, it goes fast. I lost all my hair at three years old, shortly after being diagnosed, and then it all came back at about age twelve to fall out again slowly for a couple years and then POOF like blowing on a dandy lion at twenty-one. I've had no more regrowth for about three years now. Okay, well I have some peach fuzz coming back in but I've learned not to count on it. I have AU but sadly the few hairs on my arms still outnumbers what's found on my head lol.

I think one of the hardest parts about alopecia is that it effects everyone different. Your pattern may end up being completely different than anyone else's so just keep hope. I haven't ever really read much about the pitted fingernails, only that it is seen sometimes with those who have alopecia. I wonder......if that is true, could it possibly be an early early sign if my daughter were to have alopecia but not showing yet?? Hmmmm......I'm very intrigued now. I may have to open the books back up, so to speak, and do a little research that I haven't done in ages.
