Hello peoples

Hope you are all doing ok...I have a question....

I have scalp edge hair loss which is exhibiting signs of regrowth - white fuzzy hair, its growing, but slowly. Yet it's a different story with the patch on my head near the top....I have known it has been there a while, and decided I would ignore it...but on checking the other day I have lots of brown near hair in it! Very exciting. Now, I have heard that scalp edge hair loss is a bad prognosis factor, now is this because you are more likely to lose more or is it because it is harder to grow the hair in this area? xx

Thanks in advance peeps

Any hair growth is a good sign. There is no predicting what will happen. Try not to obsess over it and hopefully it will all come back. If it doesn't find a way to get on with life. Acceptance of what we cannot control is key here. Every story of hairgrowth is different.
It's good to hear that you have regrowth, I am guessing it may just be harder to regrow the hair as mine is pale and baby fine but theother areas are dark and growing faster. I am not using any treatment at the moment, but have got my first appointment with a Dermatologist on Saturday. xx Thanks for replying ladies...xxx
I am using DPCP and I have white regrowth but you have to look VERY carefully to see it. I have about 10 strands of long white hair... what is that about? It is all so weird. I don't have a fuzz over my entire head but only some areas. What is the "edge hair" you are talking about?
By scalp edge hair I mean around the normal hairline, like I have kind of receded upwards at the nape of my neck and around the front, and have fine white hairs in those areas, but have dark regrowth everywhere else. It is bloody weird though this alopecia lark. xx
Hi Tracey
I don't have any "dark" hair yet just all fine white fuzz with the odd long one sprouting proudly out of my head. I am assuming you still wear a wig or do you show off your head? I laughed at your lark comment: good to know I am not alone in thinking it is totally off. Keep me posted! I am curious to know how things play out with you. :) xx
I don't wear a wig, as luckily for me the hair everywhere else covers it, and I have taken to using volumising shampoo and blow drying my hair to get volume, otherwise it looks awful. I do own a couple of cheaper wigs but am holding out on splashing the cash in case I don't need it. I just have to style it differently. At the front I have lost hair in a pattern like when men recede, so at the moment I still have the middle front bit which can be styled in a side fringe to cover it up, but I am still losing hair whilst growing some back...boo hiss. x Yay for you and your fuzz and long hairs, xxx I am seeing a derm on Saturday so will let you know what happens x
Well, I saw the derm, and he didn't seem overly bothered...gave me injections to the nape of my neck, and has prescribed steroid shampoo for all over and a gel for the front parts, to be used on alternate days until regrowth is established then I can cut it down to a couple of times a week. xx
