I'm experiencing unprecedented regrowth, and want to hear about your similar experiences. I have had AU for almost 4 years now, first onset being in my mid-thirties. Possibly there was a link between my stressful job and the hair loss -- I've been away from that situation now for almost a full 3 years. I've been using turmeric (golden paste - supposedly good for anti-inflammation) in the past few months and that's all I've been doing differently than normal. I have tried about everything for varying periods of time over the last few years!
I now have patches of thick, dark hair coming in all over my head, (not connected...yet?) and I'm growing eyelashes and a bit of body hair here and there. I know from reading, not to be too optimistic or get attached, as it comes and goes. But this is something I haven't seen before, and it's all coming in at once.
What are your experiences with regrowth and AU?

I had terrible experience with the 'traditional' route as well - the steroids made me sick. I even tried laser and UV therapy at the urging of my dermatologist and got nothin but a tan :) Glad to hear you're growing and keeping your hair! It is crazy!
Have had alopecia for 9 years and am also experienced regrowth about three months after I started turmeric pills,(1,000 mg) - buy them at Sprouts or Natural Grocers. Also I started some good probiotics and continued my biotin, a Cal/Mag/Zinc pill, a multivitamin, and fish oil. I'd lost 1/2 of an eyebrow after using a new shampoo containing cocamidpropyl betaine. The eyebrow came back but my eyelashes have not returned. My regrowth patches have also not connected but the new hair is nice (except on real windy days when the bald sides of my head are obvious). But I no longer wear buffs which I liked better than wigs.
Did lose some of the regrowth after fighting a 10 day flu - interestingly this was the first flu I had for the nine years I've had alopecia. Now that the flu is gone, the regrowth is continuing. Do agree with Molly that it comes and goes - my last regrowth was after a patella fracture, will definitely go without hair before going through that again....
How did you grow it back???
I used the products you are peddling and I got so tired of cutting my hair with a hedge clippers. Darn hair just grew too fast so I stopped using the products.
Hi Molly
Thanks for posting your findings about golden turmeric paste.
Do you make this with cold-pressed olive oil or un-refined coconut oil ?
That is great news. The key is that turmeric is anti-inflammatory. I lost about 2/3 of my hair about 7 years ago-went through the steroid shots, creams......Then I went to a holistic chiropractor who recommended I go gluten and dairy free. Gluten is one of the most inflammatory foods you can eat and dairy is a close second. When I took those foods out of my diet the burning stopped and my hair grew back and stayed. Further I did a blood test that reflected foods that are cross-reactive to gluten which includes most of the grains, eggs, dairy, potatoes, corn.... My test showed that I was positive for most of the grains which meant that I would have to remove those foods also to further lower my INFLAMMATION. It worked awesome! I added in some supplements like probiotics, Vitamin D, turmeric, B-vitamins, enzymes, collagen and glutamine to help heal my gut and improve my immune system. I now have a full head of hair and more than I think I've ever had! It was a long journey. If I cheat or get very stressed out I feel the symptoms return and then I have to work really hard to lower my stress and increase any anti-inflammatory supplements like turmeric, ginger...... and definitely follow the diet (Paleo or Autoimmune Paleo are the best to follow). Definitely a lifestyle change but worth it.
