After doing some detailed checkup with my dermatologist. She came to the conclusion that I am suffering form androgenic alopecia which kicks in with most women later in their life but that effects me already in my mid 30s.

I consider myself lucky since there are many of you out there that suffer Areata and Universalis but I would still like to get some better hair.

My doctor prescribed me ell-carrell which is a topical treatment for women with androgenic alopecia but she also recommend to use supplements to get some better growth. She wrote me down that I should search for a supplement with biotin and zinc. After doing some research about which supplements are out there I saw that many also have selenium and niacin or saw palmetto as ingredients. So, I am a bit confused what to take. Can anyone recommend me a good supplement?

Hi Alicia, there are various nutrients which are good for hair growth or that help against hair loss. Biotin is probably one of the most important ingredients for getting some nicer looking hair. It also helps with your nails. Zinc is a great nutrient as well. A lack of zinc messes with you hormone balance. There are several of other important nutrients as well such as selenium, iron and potassium.

I actually have some genetic hair loss as well and always had problems with thin hair and I am taking TRX2, which is a supplement that is meant to take for those who have problems with thinning hair. My hair got really stronger and my hairdresser also confirmed this. So that is defiantly a supplement for this purpose I would recommend.

I agree with catberg although I know you want supplements but I would say yet your best to get the nutrients through natural food. For example broccoli is very high in vitamin c. I just think it's a healthier approach and will likely absorb the nutrients you need.

I have had success with Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth. Most of my hair is coming back and hoping in time it all does.Wish i would have know about this supplement when it started falling out.
