Hi to all. For the last several months my hair has been filling up sandwich bags again. The best derms haven't been able to help me. I have so much anxiety over this that it is causing me to not to be able to function. I just want it to be over, whatever they may entail. I have wasted a fortune on wigs and would really like to know what the consensus may be for the best, most comfortable, natural wigs. I am to the point that I would shave my head to just feel comfortable again and not see these clumps fall out anymore. When I research wigs, I get so overwhelmed. I see pros/cons with all but would like to talk to the experts, you guys who wear them and have experience. Thanks, love n prayers.

Hi there, I can totally relate to the frustration and anxiety you have from your hair falling out.
I am recently going through the same thing. I just turned 52 and am healthy, slim and try to eat a good diet. I now use organic shampoo etc. I found that hair spray irritates my head, and I wonder if the chemicals in it have anything to do with killing hair follicles. I would think that would contribute as well as hair dyes that contain ammonia. I know now that there are sulfates in most shampoos that kill the hair follicles.

I have also been to a Dermatologist who was useless and made his money on me in 5 minutes. He didn't offer help or a solution, and no real diagnosis. He just said I had female pattern hair loss, and he was so 'matter of fact' about it, as if it was no big deal, and is common and 'so what'. That is what I got. I've been on hormone therapy, estrogen and progesterone and my hair still falls. I have been drinking Nettle tea to try to possibly minimize too much DHT (male hormone) but I don't even really know if that is that case. I also take a lot of various vitamins that are supposed to help hair growth such as biotin, silica, folic acid etc. I know we also need enough protein bc hair is made of it.

I have no answers either. I am sorry but I don't know much about wigs and I am hoping it doesn't come that for me :s I am starting to wonder now though. This situation is very distressing, especially for a female and especially in today's world where so much emphasis is put on to outer beauty. It's been said that a woman's hair is her 'crowning glory'. Well my crowning glory is going all to to hell at this point.

Take care. :)

I use angel wigs / freedom wigs - custom made soft cap with skin look over entire cap. They are expensive however I have got years out of mine - and right now I am in the process of having one made for my daughter too.

Hi

I don't know if there is a 100% best solution for anybody, there are choices around your needs that will help you find a solution that suits you. So, I think the best place to start is with your own wants and needs. I would suggest you make a list of what you really want to achieve with a wig, what are the deal breakers for you around the choices that are available? I had a definate wish list when I started looking for my daughter and this guided and helped me find a solution that has worked for us.

You have sent me a friend request which I have accepted. I hope my page and the piccies on there of my daughter help you with some of your decisions. I'm also very happy to help with any technical knowledge around a Freedom Wigs as this is where my expertise is.

Good luck with finding something that works well for you.

Hugs

Rosy

i use freedom hair wigs and love them. someone will measure your head and make the wig just for you. The other wigs i have used is a lace front wig called the Gripper. It works well but doesnt last long and is expensive for how long it lasts.
i feel much better now that i have found good wigs and have some freedoms back that i feel i lost when my hair fell out.

For me, a bonded-on hair system has been what works! If you want to know more about that let me know.

My daughter wears all lace wigs that she tapes on with supertape. We order from a chinese site. This works best for her because she sleeps in them and doesn't like to be without hair on her head.

Gosh, thank you all. Part of me just wants to shave it and bond or get a vacuum wig, but there's so many variables. I keep constant sore scalp, I have psoriasis and am very sensitive, and my hair has fallen out and then done better for 20 some years. I have bought so many wigs, some with great promise from the seller and then they are never right. They are heavy, itchy, just uncomfortable. Ive missed out on so much because of stupid hair and I just want it to end. I want stability, to be able to make plans, to not be scared to deal wuthit, and for the anxiety to end. The last appt at CC the dr told me it was due to a yeast infection, now she's decided it's inflammation due to my AS and wants me to go back on Enbrel, which is known to cause hairloss. I am to the point my pain is unbearable I don't have a choice.I just want a solution for the hair.I've always had a fear of losing my hair and watching it come true is killing me. I just need a plan...I will be messaging some of you...thanks from the bottom of my heart...

Hi:
Would you mind telling me what Chinese company that you order from?
Thanks

I know what you're going through. Trying to find the right hair loss solution can be stressful & overwhelming. My final solution were the lace systems. I have been wearing the bonded & glueless lace systems for about five years. I love them & feel most comfortable in them. I receive so many compliments about my hair that know one knows I am wearing a hair system. I can do just about everything while wearing my lace system.

Hiya
I'm in Bath, England. I had complete hair loss 4 months ago. I bought an "emergency" wig machine-made from the internet until i got my NHS ones (you can get 2 for £60 each on national health) It didn't look great. I now have 2 x £200 pounds worth wigs Hand-tied and blond (best to keep same colour as your hair before it fell out as it draws less attention to your hair. I got some advice early on. I was told that human hair wigs are very heavy, and when you go out in the wind, they lose any style straight away. I am happy with the wigs I have. Got one trimmed for work (I am a nurse) i always wear a cotton liner underneath which means it does not itch and does not feel like it is slipping. I don't use any tape. I haven't tried the lace front ones.
it makes me feel more normal to have the option of a wig, though i wear beanie caps or scarfs inside often.
Make sure you get the right size and get an expert to fit it for you and tell you how to wash it etc. All the best! xx

Nicole: what does glueless lace mean? When you bond do you do it daily? Does it cause scalp irritation?

Pammyann: what is NHS? Gosh, I am so envious that you all have found a way. Please pray that I do..This stress is too much. Thanks..

Hi Chefpam -

I feel your pain regarding hair loss. I noticed my hair falling out more about a year ago. I started Peri-menopause about 5 or 6 yrs ago and my hair was fine. I don't know if my hair loss is due to hormones being lost or messed up or what. I have been on various vitamins, changed shampoos to organic and am on bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. I have to dye my hair about every 5 wks bc I am now grey (just turned 52) and am using an organic hair dye from Europe that I get from my health food store. It's supposed to be easier on the scalp and hair. Using dyes w ammonia will kill your hair.

I dyed my hair w it yesterday and used the conditioner that goes w it, and when my hair was damp, I blow dried it on the cool setting, not touching my hair, blowing it over the corner tub. The tub was full of hair and floor also. I gathered them and counted 278 hairs. I was floored. I never count, but was curious.
There is no way it is normal to lose that much hair in one wash. I would guess the dye didn't help though, but when I wash every few days, I still lose tons of hair everywhere - same thing- tub and floor full of hair. I don't even brush it. Afraid to. Finding hair on my clothes, and pillow now too. Freaking out. I am newly engaged and am afraid my new guy will turn off if I thin out and look awful or go partly or totally bald. He was attracted to me physically and I feel he then will not be anymore.
It scares me to death. I told him my concerns and he just blows it off and says it's probably just hormones out of whack. I think it makes him uneasy to talk about it.
I don't want to have to deal w getting wigs. I am so upset over this whole thing.

How do you women out there deal with this regarding your men? What does your husband or partner think/feel? Is there change from them toward you?

Thank you for any answers.
Best regards,
