Any recommendations on shampoos/conditioners for my synthetic wig. The lady who gave it to me said dish washing liquid? I don't want to mess it up. It tangles some so looking for something to help with that too.

I wash mine with Jon Renau Easihair  Shampoo which is made for synthetic wigs. Be careful not to twist or wring your hair.  Then I spray lightly with Jon Renau conditioning spray for synthetic and human hair.  I spray the hair but not on the cap.  I lay it on a something to dry and do not brush it until it is completely dry.  The spray should help it not to tangle so much.  Good luck

I like the Jon Reneau shampoo, but in a pinch, I have used a small amount of laundry detergent. It helps dull the artificial shine om synthetics.

ive heard of that before I think you should listen to the lady who gave you the wig

i usually wear cheap synthetic wigs. Thus, if you decide to experiment, try it on a wig that you're about to throw out.  I learned this on a wig forum many moons ago.  Wool-ite or Downy fabric softener.

A synthetic wig is just that, synthetic but in a different form.  I use fabric softener to literally make the wig smell fresh as well as 'soften the fabric' of the wig.

After washing the wig, i add 1 tsp. of softener in a cool basin of water with the wig in it. Swish the wig around in it, and  let it soak for over 10 mins. or longer, doesn't matter, you can't harm the wig or the cap with fabric softener.

Rinse, squeeze out the excess water,  and let it dry on the wig stand.  I do not comb or brush any of my wigs while they are wet?  It was something that certain manufacturers will not allow. While wet, the wig will feel "strange".. don't worry about it.. i did at first.

After the wig is dry,  the hair will feel a little "hard" or stiff.  Brush or style the wig as usual, and you will notice that the hair is softer.

Do not use a lot of fabric softener on your wig to soak, why?  because the smell of fabric softener will be quite over powering.

You can try a best quality hair wigs that do not cause that problem anymore. You can just pick a best one with good advice from a hair expert here http://www.wigsbycc.com/high-grade-synthetic-lace-wigs/

In the beginning I used to get special synthetic wig shampoos, hair spray and all that.  For years now I have used woolite and only woolite.  I can usually wash them several times before they become my only around the house wig.  I keep my work or out of the house wig on a wire stand for good air circulation when not wearing.  Once a wig gets fuzy in the back, that becomes my working around the house wig.  In the winter I wear a stocking hat or scarf to bed to keep my head warm.
