Hi all, firstly I would like to thank all the people who have set up this site it's a great help.

I first developed alopecia when i was around 18, Im now 28 and it's the worst it's ever been so I decided to go the shave a year ago.

I have mainly just used minoxidil which had given some growth but nothing really lasts, I have never been keen to try steroids but have kept a good diet, fitness and am now taking a vitamin compound as I had some deficiencies... still nothing.

I have been to homeopaths and dermatologist's and am now thinking phycologist to treat anxiety/ depression. The problem is I think the problem is the cause of the ongoing problem and most of this anxiety/ depression has come from aa. I really want to just stop trying treatment but aa always keeps me hanging in there as it comes and goes for no real reason but just when I think I'm getting progress then I find another spot.

I guess I'm just looking for some suggestions and experiences from other sufferers. I have no problem going bald but when it comes and goes and I don't know why it makes me stressed then I think the stress causes the aa.

Thanks for listening

Mark

Hey Mark,
I know how you feel. I have only had it for 4-5 months or so and it is definitely bumming me out. I am not sure if mine will get worse, get better, get better and then get worse again and that is part of the struggle. Not knowing. I am doing tons of treatments and I may be getting some growth in the original spot but I really am not sure. How did yours start? Is it in your beard/face? I wish you the best man. Keep in touch. Jay
Cheers Jay,

I just started noticing spots then they would get better and then worse. I have a little bit in my beard and also a couple of years later some vitiligo started inside my arms. This is loss of pigment. Things could be worse and I have so many good things in my life to be happy about. I just get frustrated by not knowing what causes it. Because once you try and sort it out you realize that it could be so many things and so many treatments are just a guess. This site is good though and is helping me deal with it. Most of the time I forget about it but then I'll be in the shop and a complete stranger will comment like did your mates do that to you when you were pissed or something others think I have cancer. That gets to me!

well my experince with aa, which started oh 6 or 7 years ago. did all the doctor stuff, and stressed myself out to the max, always trying to make sure, what i had for hair was covering all my spots. To me it felt like the whole world was looking at me! I never was a fan of treament, as none of them have lasting results. Well it got to the point i took a stress leave from work, felt like my whole world was comming down.doctor talked me into taking antideperssents, i told him i didnt want to have to depend on them.he said it would be ok. well after trying 3 or 4 different kinds, cause they all have side affects.and i am still on them, i must say they have helped, but i also think comming to the fact that their is way more to life than hair. You just need to live with and accecept it, you will be truly happer with life. I have found that is what has worked for me. I think it amazing now how meny people look and stare now, and it dont bother me a bit. my only treaments now is a bic razor every 2 or 3 days, life is great!
I agree doing all that stuff is stress in itself. The razor is great for me at the moment.

Thanks
I will make an appointment with my GP, how do you take it? and have you had any side effects I did some research and there are some? Let me know how it goes.

Thanks
Mark
Hi there, This is new to me, yoga is great for lots of things but this looks crazy! so your telling me that your male pattern baldness was reversed? Worth a try I guess.

Cheers
Mark
You describe it so well, I like that. It very true the why and for how long unknown is a shocker. It is also hard to try to many different things cause than you don't really know what is effective. Some of these treatments above look promising? All the best.

Mark
