Hello guys, I need your help!
I have a human hair wig. At first it had a dark blond colour. I didn’t like this colour so I changed the colour in to a medium brown. Since I dyed the wig I have been facing some problems.
The wig tangles very quickly and feels very dry. I gave it a coconut oil treatment. I let the hair soak for about 24 hours in coconut oil. I then rinsed it with shampoo (Guhl) and I deep conditioned it.
My wig feels not that dry anymore, but it still tangles and is matting badly. I have used Moroccan Argan Oil, different kind of shampoos and conditioners, but nothing seems to help.

If you have another wig or a back up I have heard of others doing a bleach bath. I know nothing about it but heard it does help. Don't do it if you don't have a back up as I don't know how it will turn out.
I think I've heard of this Bleach bath for wigs too. If anyone knows more about it I hope they will post something here, it sounds like it would ruin a wig putting it in bleach, and dry it out really bad. just curious what this is and how it works?

I’m quite familiar with bleach baths and I don’t think doing a bleach bath is the solution. I normally do a bleach bath when a unit is tangled or matted because of product built up. This usually happens when you wear a for quite a while and when you use styling products. This isn’t the case with my current unit. This unit is 4 months old and I haven't used any styling products except for shampoo and conditioner. Besides a bleach bath also dries your hair further out. My current unit already feels very dry. And if I do a bleach bath, I think that this problem will get worse.
Thanks Xena, I was hoping someone with experience with them would chime in. Thanks for the info!
You can not treat the hair on a wig like your own hair.
If the wig already has color in it,then never try to colour it again,it will damage the wig.
If you want to dye a wig to the color you like,then buy a VIRGIN hair wig with natural colour.
This is from my personal experience.

I have'nt washed my unit yet, but have used a spray in conditioner. I haven't seen any change in my unit.I think this will take a while. Tonight i will give it a second coconut oil treatment.

In the past i have coloured different kind of wigs and i didn't have this kind of problem. It's quite normal for a wig to feel very dry after colouring it, but not to this extent.
Hey there! I actually take my wig in to get a keratin treatment by the lady I bought the wig from. I do this every three months or so and it returns it to almost it's original condition. It costs about $60/ treatment but for me it's worth it because it definitely extends the life of the wig and takes all of the guess work out of it.
@Julie
I immediately called my supplier when I read your message. Unfortunately my supplier doesn't do a keratin treatment but she does sell shampoo and conditioner with keratin. I will try this out. Maybe it will help. I will let you know. Thanks for the advise!
