Thanks

from what I heard other pharmaceutical companies had some other drugs (biologics) in phase 1 or 2 for alopecia indication.

I don't think Pfizer is interested in this indication for tofacitinib but I could be wrong... they continue to get the money while prescribed off label!
I'm sorry but I don't understand is that the same stuff that's in xeljanz?
correct. tofacitinib is the chemical name for xeljanz

I recently had a visit with my dermatologist and she said there are 7 or 8 pharmaceutical companies testing JAK inhibitors for alopecia including Pfizer. Oral and topical testing.

Thank you yes I spoke with my doctor she said hopefully this year they will have something out for alopecia... I sure hope so
easy loriann. don't want to sound like the party pooper but I prefer to give u accurate answer instead of making u happy.
true that some companies are working on it... but let's not fool ourselves with wrong rumors, goal is not to provide hope but to give good information.

aclaris is working on this but they far to complete the market access. it takes years and years...

sorry to repeat this one more time (mtran2000) but once again NO Pfizer is not interested in alopecia... let me tell you this sucks for us because it is easier to get a new indication for xeljanz than to approved a new drug. and let's be honest Aclaris is not Pfizer.

for the non believers see the link belowith for complete Pfizer pipeline. Ulcerative colitis makes much money than alopecia...

I am AU and I worked in numerous pharmaceutical companies in the Immunology department and I learned to do my own homework instead of relying on dermatologist...

my 2 cents, interleukin 2 in low dose obviously could be very interesting for alopecia but in North America they hate it!!!

hi Return to life, why North America hate interleukin 2? looks like you know a lot for the immune disease, do you know anything about vitiligo? since i am suffered by both AA and vitiligo.

Hi Liu Chunxiu,

IL2 in high dose is a cytokine that is/was used in some chemotherapy. in North America, it got a bad reputation by physicians. In high dose it could kill so u need to be careful. Different countries, different opinions... doesnt mean North America always has best answer. For example doctors in North America give cortisone very easily vs some European countries.

For your specific case, new data proved that some biologics could treat vitiligo. In my humble opinion any person who has Alopecia and another autoimmune disease should focus on treating the other disease and from what I saw the alopecia will also get treated. your best bet would be to try biologics for Rheumatoid arthritis and depending on where you live I would try to go with a Jak inhibitors rather than a anti tnf.

good luck
Thats very sad news!

I am on Topical Xeljanz for the last 2 1/2 weeks.   I started with alopecia areata of the beard,  but has spread to my head and body,  i would consider 60-70 percent of my head already gone :(

I am only testing it on my eyebrows and some parts of beard.

I will update the results as they occur (or do not occur).  As of now,  no regrowth but way too early to tell.

Tofacitinib citrate
Tofacitinib Citrate
Tofacitinib Citrate

what is the source of your topical xeljanz? custom compound pharmacy? clinical trial?
