I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

We've already had a discussion on the link back in october about stem cells. You can scroll back to see what was posted on the topic. The stem cell educator therapy seems rly promising but it hasnt been replicated since that last trial. I hope that one day it'll be a viable cure for alopecia unlike jak inhibitors.

can you post the link?

Yes, I now see there's a thread for this topic. Still, I'm surprised as to why these latest findings haven't made the same kind of splash as xeljanz. Perhaps Chinese origin has something to do with this.

Thank you Kev. I see you received your answer already
Hey everyone, I know someone who has an extra bottle of Xeljanz (60 pills) for sale for less than half price! If anyone is interested, please pm me. They are willing to sell it for $1400 or best offer.

Hi

Why dosn`t your doctor prescribe Ruxolitinib topical when you are taking Xeljanz orally?

Dr said he wouldn't mix 2 different jak inhibitors. I don't know why.
Hi xeljanz 2015, I'm in the UK and I haven't been prescribed anything went to see a dermatologist couple of months ago and she basically didn't want to know, couldn't get me out of the office quick enough and was very dismissive of any new treatments, ruxolitinib is the only chance I have here and even then will probably have to pay for it myself, although if topical xeljanz is available in Turkey that's another option.
I'm sorry for the bad experience! Hope you can find a nicer Doctor. The only reason Xeljanz topical is cheaper at this compounding pharmacy is because they were able to get the tofacitinib and not have to crush the pills like it was done with the Ruxolitinib.
In my view the topical is just a boost for some spots and not really meant for an entire scalp. Whenever hair grows back you no longer will be able to apply the cream to the scalp, so maintaining dose will have to be orally.
I dont know. Maybe a lot of people don't know about Ruxolitinib? We havent had a thread on it to my knowledge. Is it more or less expensive than Xeljanz?

And:

Is there a cream called Topical X? or do you mean topical Xeljanz cream?

The pharmacy in Turkey is asking,

what is a compounding pharmacy? I don´t think we have that in Norway?
