I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Cholestral increase is a side effect of Xelljanz pravastatin is a mild form of cholestral lowering medication. Also always remember if you have time lots of aerobic activity and weight bearing exercise is essential.
What type of Doctor is treating you a dermotolagist or a reummatolagist ? Also did you apply for the assistance Program if approved you get the medicine Fed Xd to youre house thru a specialty pharmacy free of all charges.
Yea it's definitely mainly from the medication but also could be from me not eating good at all.. I will definitely try to get it lower though .
Yes I use to get it free simply by using the copay card but since they only give you $12,000 a year on the card my dr tried through my insurance and I only have a $65 copay so I use the copay card for that so I don't pay anything . My rheumatologist is the one who I see for lab work and he sends the scripts.. I just started my 5th month on xeljanz .. I started end of last year but didn't take it as its meant to be taken( twice a day ) so it has lasted me a little longer .

a my friend is taking medium pill in morning and medium pill in night(so to waste less and to have less health problems) and his hairs are coming

Oh That's great that you're getting the medicine At a great price. What was toure severity of alopecia before you started on the Xelljanz good luck to you sounds like all will work out Good
I lost it all like 4 months after I had my son last year then my eyebrows starting thinning badly in October so I got them done and I started xeljanz in November like the 2nd week in November I think . But I try to take 1 pill a day although sometimes I do take 2 .. That's why I just started my 5th bottle .. My dr gave me 2-3 bottles so I have until about August and now that insurance is covering my medicine I'll have more . I do plan on stopping soon just to see what happens .. If it does fall out I'll just start back on the medication again
Maybe beings the Nature of the way you lost it possibly triggered by youre system changeing dureing pregnancy it can possibly eventually grow in Naturally when you're system gets the right signal congrats on the the new Baby.
James... by curiosity, do u work in the pharmaceutical field?
No actually I worked on the structural phase of High rise buildings and Bridges I am currently retired.
Ok... was just curious. I worked 8 years in the pharmaceutical industry. More specifically with biologics... and the way you write made me believe u had knowledge on the industry.
Thank you .. And yes I do believe so . I had a csection and was literally shaking like a leaf from being so nervous and plus the pain of labor was so intense and had s very hard 2 months after his birth so maybe that's why I'm not sure . I just hope once I stop taking it my hair continues to grow
I think there's a great chance that you will have full regrowth just stay positive keep healthy and try not to stress yourself out good luck to you
