I have AA and still have most of my hair with the exception of a spot the size of a quarter. I have done pretty well at concealing it, but i work with children so it is just a matter of time before they notice. Kids say the darnest things and they notice everything! I am very self conscious about it even though i know there is nothing to be ashamed of. I am glad i'm here with you all and not alone! :)

hi, i'm new as well. I was just recently diagnosed with aa. My hair is doing something wacky and my mind is playing tricks on me. I don't know which one is worse!

Glad I'm not the only one. I swear my hair is going crazy and I'm loosing my mind (a little). I have my hair snipped in a short crop, that helps some-what. We'll see how long until it gets worse and its shavin' time. I already own several bananas, and need to get some scarves for when its time, maybe even a wig.

Yes Amber. I had that problem this time around. This time I had more spots and they showed up quickly but I also had general thinning. We thought the general thinning was due to my iron deficiency that also began with all of this, but after meeting people at a support group in NY they mentioned having similar experiences.

Can you have AA and overall thinning of hair, too? My hair is thinning really badly right now, I even have some hairs so thin, they are phantom hairs.

I have itching too. Before I start with my Ayurveda treatmen I would also have redness and then I knew that new bold spot will start to open.
I had itches on my scalp way before I get alopecija. My dr. thinks I have sistematic Candida for years, and he suggest that I use (between other anti-candida treatment) also baking soda baths for my body and scalp.
He thinks that Candida may be a reason for my AA.

The bald spot on the crow of my head itches. I scratch it and that hurts my scalp, as does scratching the sides of my head. (because my hair has thinned out, ugh) I stopped scratching with my finger tips. With AA, around the bald spot, is moderate itching normal? I also have to be careful when scrubbing the shampoo because of this. I was told by my wonderful hairstylist, that my scalp was a little red (irritated). hhmm....
