Hey Dave, I'm sorry to hair about the thinning and the itching which is making other issues. I have some huring on my eyebrows and it looks thinner.Allergies have just arrived and the nurse have me some eye drops and said take Zyrtec. I stopped the zyrtec. I have an appointment coming for the alleregies. I heard from of our brother he stopped eating gluten and his hair regrew.Maybe it was his time to regrow his hair. I don't know, but I'm trying that. I have a natural dr, who did tell me about suger. She said avoid sugar!! including white and brown sugars, honey , maple syrup,, barley malt, rice syrup. She said all if these break down very quickly in the body causing inflammation in the body. My Derm dr said AA is inflammation.

I have noticed that my right hip started hurting badly on and off near the time that most all of my hair fell out. Also, my lower back swelled up for no reason and the pain was unbearable. The xrays showed nothing. Well, now 1 1/2 years later, my lower back is really stiff and the vertabre pop in and out all the time with very little movement. And now the unbearable pain is in my mid back. I have a feeling this is going to happen until I can't move my back at all. The doctors say there is nothing wrong with my hip or my back. The doctor said I'm perfectly healthy. WOW!!!

I haven't heard of that one, Angie. Might be something else going on. As for me, my mustache hairs and eyebrows have started itching and falling out and my white patches are slowly going bald and more an more feeling "bare", as if nothings there. I still have a lot of hair, it just seems thinner. I try to take baths so I can see how much hair is left over, and it seems like more and more. Along with that, I've had a couple episodes where my hands hurt bad, arthritis like. And my allergies are getting worse too. Is that how others have experienced yours?

When I wake up every morning, my throat hurt, Any body know if it's connected to AA. It does not take long to feel normal, but every day?

Hey there Im ozz and altho my hair has thinned out over the years, stress, hormones, etc., I suddenly noticed a rapid increase in hairloss over a period of a few months, and I mean intense shedding, where the hairs fall on you night and day. Woke up one day with thinning on the top of my head. I was diagnosed with AGA a blanket term for every hairloss that cannot detect. Two days ago after finding a bald patch was diagnosed with Alopecia. Did 17 blood tests am now waiting for the results.
I find that science doesnt know enough, doesnt really care, am amazed how many of us are out there suffering and thank god for sites like this where we can all compare notes.

I do too Lois. I've thought this since 1975 or 1976 when I lost my hair all over my body. My nails came out, but they returned. Not my hair though. That sucked. I wear wigs till I don't have to leave the house. I can't afford meds or creams. I've had a biopsey and it told me that it was sleeping, not dead. The follicles. Well, hope to hear from my friends.

Thyroid disease is also in the auto immune disease family. Everyone in my family (both parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister) all have hypothyroidism. My brother also has diabetes and ciliacs disease. I consider myself 'lucky' to only have AA. The other members do not have any additional auto immune diseases (other then hypothyroidism). I believe I am the first in my entire family to have AA.
