Hey Natalie,
I've never experienced any pain with my alopecia.
As far as the eyebrows I got mine tattood and I really like them. If you arent ready for that there are lots of products available.

Good luck!!!

Good morning! Although I have had AA for 8 years and just became AT this year, I am quickly progressing to AU. I have a quick question to ask: When my hair was falling out, my scalp would hurt, and now that my eyebrows are falling out, my eyebrows are hurting. Has anyone else experienced this? What are some good eyebrow products to use? I am a little anxious about having to start to draw my eyebrows in, and any advice would be great :)

Hello everyone. I'm new to this website, and have had alopecia universalis for a little over 2 years now. I would love to talk to people on here and make some friends! Hopefully I will be granted the privilege of conversing with some of you soon. : )

Way to go Mary.
I know what you mean it feels so good to let the air hit your head.
Sounds like you had a great time.

Hi everyone,

I just got back from a trip to Hawaii. I went bald the whole time, except when I was wearing a sunhat while hiking or at the beach, for protection. I've slowly gotten my very white dome to be more tan, but I'm very careful not to burn it. I felt fine the whole trip, and it was hot some of the time - so being bald and cool and comfortable was the best way to go. I really don't care anymore...this is what I look like. And, getting the wetsuit off after snorkeling is SO much easier without hair! I went to a luau with about 500 people, and stood up when our anniversary was announced. Several women came up to me and asked about my "cancer". Not a problem. I gave them one of my alopecia cards and had a nice chat.

I have heard from some that it is maybe good for regrowth having the sun and even a little burn...not severe tho. I hate that mine feels so white when I have a tan. The other day I had an older lady in line behind me at a store, whisper, do you have cancer?? I said, you don't have to whisper.. and gave my little alopecia speech.. she was wanting to have it in common,,, you can just tell. Once you say alopecia, some are just not interested. Oh well.

Just wanted to say I went on a 3 day vacation at the lake with some of my family.
And I got brave and went bald most of the time there.
I figured I didn't know anyone.
And if they didn't like me being bald they didn't have to look.
We were on the boat most of the time on lake.
That sun felt so good on my head.
And the wind felt good too.
So just maybe I could do this more.
I am taking baby steps.
I hope to get braver in the future.
My family is my biggest helper they all say do what comfortable for you, and they we don't care if you are bald.
Makes me feel good to know they are behind me.

wow a place just for AU's! Nice to be here where we all have so much in common. Can't wait to connect with some of you. I've had AU since I was 2. I've never known what it's like to have hair.
