wow a place just for AU's! Nice to be here where we all have so much in common. Can't wait to connect with some of you. I've had AU since I was 2. I've never known what it's like to have hair.

Catching up on your replies a bit late:

Sharon, I started with going to the mailbox bald and worked up from there. You never know until you try. That was my whole point with the NBO.

Lori, did you see my blog about evolution? Here it is: http://www.alopeciaworld.net/forum/topics/alopecians-are-more-evolved

Ashley...it's just baby steps to where you want to go, wherever that is. I had another first last Saturday...performing bald in the center of a dance floor with everyone circling around me. For some reason, that was a step I had to work up to. The pics are here: http://www.alopeciaworld.net/photo/albums/bald-lady-drumming

Happy August to everyone!

Thanks, Pamela! Actually, the T-shirt logos were designed by Bald Girls Do Lunch. After I came up with the idea for the National Bald Out and posted it on AW, Thea of BGDL offered to do the T-shirt since she already had a Cafe Press "store" for BGDL designs. She had a BGDL designer come up with the logos, and the "Bald? So What!".

For your enjoyment (and please feel free to use any that you'd like), here are some T-shirt slogan ideas I posted previously on AW:

Bald women are cool.

Baldness: the next step in human evolution.

Yes, I’m bald…..get over it. (This is my favorite)

There is always - Divine instead of Diva, Just thought of that, I am going to continue thinking & come up with some more. How fun.
Have a good week-end everyone.

Mary, I love it, you are some lady. I'm getting there. What I really like is your tee-shirt. Maybe I will make one up, lets' see, Got Bald, Bald & Beautiful, If I may borrow yours, Bald & Loving It. Bald, No Bad Hair Days For Me. Hey I'm going to try to find some words to go with BALD, like B-Beautiful, A- Awesome, L- Lovable, D- Diva, something like that. Something to wear on the 19th.

I remember the first time I went to the grocery store bald last year. And the first time I went to the library, and the health club....eventually, I stopped counting "firsts". I carry a soft knit cap/turban in my purse, and put it on in the store if it's chilly. As I've posted elsewhere, I like wearing my "Bald? So What!" T-shirts because then I feel it's obvious that I'M okay with how I look - and other people seem to get the message.

Hey all,

I went shopping bald today!! It was just to hot out to even put on a scarf so I just bit the bullet and away I went! Not one adult looked me in the eye, they all averted their eyes LOL The kids, however, stared. And that was ok too. My only complaint was that it was very cold in the grocery store.

They better all get used to it cause I dont think Ill be able to put the scarf or wig back on in the summer.
