Hello everyone, Happy Thanksgiving, we have so much to be thankful for, what a wonderful day to count our blessings, Just remembering what Christ did for me, if I have nothing else that is sufficient. let's not forget that the first thanksgiving was all about giving thanks to God, for making it through that first winter. God Bless you...Christine

Wow, I this is a different type of day for me. Not only did I stumble upon a site that has people who can truly understand my hair issues, but a site that has Christians who can understand my hair issues. Thank goodness for the internet!

God does not punish, this is true, but He does refine us. As the Master Silversmith, He heats us up to bring the dross (the impurities) to the surface so He can then remove them from our lives. The Silversmith removes the dross until He can see His own face in the molten silver...

When this happens, we reflect Christ not only to Him but to the world. However, the process is often painful.

My life verse, that resonates within me, was given to me by the Holy Spirit the day after a high-speed head on collision that I somehow survived (obviously God had His hand on me, Praise Him). I never committed it to memory but I knew it in that hour of need: "All things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28

Vannessa-praying for your hair is a natural thing to do!I do it a lot too!
But I do remember other things, and the prayers concerning my hair change depending on how I'm feeling.Sometimes I'm thanking God for my lack of hair-at other times I'm begging for it back. It all depends and its not selfish-God is there to listen.
And I like the way you put all that David :)
Hope you're all well.

Hi everyone, actually this is a blessing. I don’t spend money on shaving, washing my hair. I even can swim faster. AND if I every need surgery, no shaving, how cool is that! All kidding aside, I don’t feed as if God is punishing me, if I spent all of my time worrying about God hating me(which I know is not the case), I would not see all my blessings. I have a great wife, kids and grandkids and I am working. I feel like I am a lucky man. Besides when I get to heaven, I will be thin and have all my hair.

I believe this is true finding a place within yourself and the comfort that being you can bring. I do not think that God punishes nor puts blame on any of us.
I was told a few days ago that before I took off my scarf that everyone thought I was a cancer patient well so be it. I told them I wasn't and it was Alopecia.
I did have a nightmare last night I dreamt all my hair grew back and being in remission of sorts at the moment I reached up to my hair and it all fell out again. This isn't God it's me worried I will lose it again when and where isn't up to us. Praying about your hair isn't a bad thing as long as you remember the other things too. My opinion.

I agree with Pam, that God does not punish. He may stretch, but he doesn't punish. I do not see my alopecia as a punishment, I see it as and exceptional growth path. I have learned to love myself whether I have hair or not, and that others will love me whether I have hair or not, I will continue living and working in this world, whether I have hair or not... God has brought me to a place that whether I grow back my hair tomorrow or remain bald the rest of my life... NOTHING else in my life changes. That is the amazing lesson. My life is no longer dependent on the hair on my head. I say no longer because at one time I believe it was.

The Shack is a good read. Very unconventional in its view of God, but I think that's what we need! He's not the Gandalf-type authoritarian figure some of us still see Him as at all. He loves us and wants us to be close to Him. After I read the book, my appearance once more took its proper place way, way down at the bottom of my list of priorities.
