Hello,

I saw my dermatologist today and unfortunately he could not  see any improvement or stabilization. At the moment I´m on Plaquenil, Doxyfem (for 11 months) and Finasteriede (4 months)

He suggested that I will start with biological medicin in September. Anyone out there that have heard about Enbrel, Humira, Cosentyx or Otezia. If yes, what effect has it had on your FFA.

Regards,

Agneta

FFA is said to start on the sides near the ears.

Hi, I saw my derm 2 weeks ago and I asked this question he said in some cases about 3 yrs but of course everyone is different, I'm currently taking Hydroxychloroquine 2 x daily and my derm said that this appears to have slowed the progression down.

HI, Aneta.

I was recently diagnosed with FFA.  My dermatologist has been giving me steroid shots and topical liquid for several months but only recently did a biopsy which diagnosed me with FFA.  At that time I changed dermatologists because she was not taking an aggressive approach (I told her a year ago I was losing hair) as I read about recent research online.

My new dermatologist has done research into alopecia, and he started me on anti-malaria medication and Finasteriede as well as continuing with the steroids. I also do the AIP diet and use Rogaine and DHT shampoos, all which he was in favor of.

As I understand it, getting FFA in remission is going to take time and be difficult (all the above treatments). I would think a year at least. So I'm not going to give up because I don't want to lose any more hair. Praying that I won't.

As far as burnout that people are talking about, I have read that the disease usually stops at 5 inches, but I don't know if that's true or not.

I have not heard of the other biological medications that you mentioned.

I forgot to mention that I am also taking anti-inflammatory herbs.

That is great you are getting out and hiking, this stupid disease can take over your life if you let it.

What does a Buff Half Headband look like?

Hi Linda

Thank you for posting the link. They have a huge range of headgear plus also a UK website which saves on import duties.

I like the idea of the headbands - I often work in a hot kitchen so wearing one of these would maybe stop my ever-receding hairline from being too obvious and the Coolmax fabric will be comfortable to wear.

oXo
