I have read about it and viewed pictures but have not had it done - is there someone near you who does it?
Were you prescribed anything for your eyebrows?
I've never heard of that. Sounds interesting. If you get it done, let us know your thoughts.
Hello!
Before I was diagnosed with FFA (there was a time multiple doctors believed my thinning brows were the result of Alopecia Areata) I had a consultation with Dr. Jeffrey Epstein -- http://www.eyebrowtransplantation.com. I wasn't able to afford the eyebrow transplant, and I'm glad I didn't explore it further because a dermatologist later told me I could have lost the transplanted hairs down the line, since inflammation is what killed them off in the first place. Dr. Epstein was fantastic, though!
I eventually lost 99.9% of my brows, and I ended up getting them tattooed -- a decision I'm very happy with.
Good luck!
The results look *amazing* from what I've seen online. Good luck and please do post again with updates!
It's basically a tattoo, but it's semi-perm, which means it only lasts about one to 1.5 years. Mine began to fade after about 6 months.
I paid about $300 for it, which is pretty affordable. The permanent tattoo process costs upwards of $800.
Whoopsie! Sorry, Montymom. I was mistaken. I thought you were talking about an eyebrow transplant. My bad! ;)
Technically, I had the eyebrow embroidery treatment. It's basically semi-permanent tattoo. I *loved* it, but I am not going to have it again for one main reason: it doesn't last longer than about a year, in my experience. I had it done in NYC at Tina Lee Skincare -- http://www.yelp.com/biz/tina-lee-skin-care-new-york. I was absolutely thrilled with the results.
I live just outside of Boston, and I've decided to have permanent tattooing done here this spring. My brows have faded quite a bit. At first, I was a little nervous about the permanency factor, but I have to come to realize my brows are just not coming back. They are truly gone. I'm 43, so I need to think about longevity.
I highly recommend the semi-perm, though, and would be happy to answer any other questions you might have!
I too am new to this forum and just recently diagnosed with FFA after a slew of tests to rule out thyroid. My eyebrows were the first to go and quickly at that. I had "permanent makeup" and I am absolutely thrilled with the results. No more eyebrow pencils, etc. Love, love, love the results. Just make sure you really research the person doing it. Get testimonials, research, research, research. A lot of plastic surgeons have specialists in this area so that would be a good place to start. Good luck!
Thanks everyone! I have done a lot of research and I picked someone that looks good. I have the semi-perm eyebrow procedure scheduled for this Friday! I'll let you know how it goes!
Good luck! So exciting!
Good luck!! You will be so happy with them. Best thing I have done for myself in years! Worth every penny.
