I have recently been diagnosed with FFA and my doctor said he would rather try creams before he prescribes any kind of pills. He has given me diprosalic scalp cream to try for 3 monthes if it will slow down or stop the process. I have got home and googled the medicine and I can't find anything about using this cream with alopecia as it is used for skin conditions like psoriasis. Has anybody heard of this cream being used for frontal fibrosing alopecia?

No, I've not heard of it. I use clobetasol foam. It stops the itching, but it has not stopped the hair loss.
I use clobetasol solution and elidel and Rogaine as topicals.
Whilst I have been doing more research it says this cream
Shouldn't be used for more than few week periods, I'm confused why he has suggested this for me? And what to do next?

Hi Flowers,

No, I have never heard of this cream. I also use clobetasol and Rogaine and a hair nutrient that I spray on with the Rogaine. I also get injections around my scalp every 6-8 weeks. I do not take any pills.

You can go to the CARF website and contact them to ask for a doctor referral in your area that specializes in this type of hair loss. That is how I found my current doctor and I am very happy with her.  http://www.carfintl.org/

I hope that helps.

Maddy, are you having any positive results with the Rogaine?  Have you had any side effects?  Also, what is the hair nutrient you use?  Was it prescribed to you by your doctor?

Hi. Sharon here.  I have FFA too.  My doctor prescribed Fluocinonide topical solution a year ago.  I used it every-other week for probably 6 months.  My condition is still active.  It's a corticosteroid like the cream you take.  Is it helping?  I don't know.  Also take Avodart 0.5 mg.  I've gone to three dermatologist and all three have different takes on what to do.  Seems no one knows for sure.
