I've been reading alot about symptoms. When I started losing hair, my itchiness was at the nape of my neck mainly and some redness. I took Benadryl and that relieved the itching. I don't have itching anymore since I started the Oracea. But my scalp gets red sometimes after washing. Wearing a wig does not bother my scalp either.

What other symptoms do you have on your scalp? Anyone have any plaques that I read about or bumps?

I go to the University of Denver December 19th to see a specialist who deals with hair loss, immune disorders and pigmentation disorders, since I do have a problem on my body with pigmentation.

I will let you know what I find out.

So the Plaquenil and Methotrexate is to relieve symptoms of itching, etc. Not to bring the hair back?

Thanks

Michele, can you send us a picture of you in your wig? We'd love to see it!

I also have itchiness and burning at the nape of my neck, and along my center part. My hair loss has been mostly at the temples and front hairline. Sometimes I have seen white flakes, especially on the front hair line.

As far as I know, Plaquenil is supposed to work with our auto immune system to control the inflammation, which is what is causing the hair loss. I don't know anything about Methotrexate. Clobetasol topical is to help with itchiness, burning and redness. There is nothing that can bring the hair back. Once the follicle is scarred it cannot produce hair. There are people on other websites who report regrowth, but I don't know how that is possible.

I will get a picture this weekend. Have to decide which wig to use. I have three different ones that I rotate out. People probably think I'm crazy for changing them all the time, but that is the point of wearing wigs right? I like being able to have different styles. Actually I hate to say it but I am pretty used to wearing them now. At first it took some getting used to.

I've never really had burning on the scalp.
