I hope I am writing this in the right place!

Ihave had FFA about four years and ignored it until last June when I couldn’t any longer!  I live in Spain and last November went to Lucinda Ellery in London for an intralace.  I have just been back for my 8 week adjustment.Yes it is expensive but I love it.  I have to add flight costs etc but for me it has worked and is worth it.  I said to my husband that people react to me differently now I have the intralace he says my confidence has returned.  I don’t think about my hair all the time after the first week which was ok but not super comfortable I forgot about it.  Just brush it and go.  Swimming in the ocean and pool over Christmas no problem.  HOWEVER  I don’t have LLP and have not suffered from a particularly itchy scalp.  I did fly to London for a consultation before committing..yes it was another airfare but my intralace was about £2,300 and I wanted to feel happy before spending the £. From what I could see at the maintenance appointment my hair line is the same and hair not stressed.

Thank you so much for your response.  I don’t know how the site works either, I know people do talk about messaging each other privately, perhaps to message you I have to invite you to be a friend??  Bet my teenage daughters could figure it out!

I’m happy to hear you love it so much.  Until now I have only dreamed about a life where I’m not so focused on my hair or lack of it.  We have just retired and quite frankly it wasn’t in the plans to spend so much of our retirement money and time on restoring my hair and self confidence!  Such a crazy condition...this seems like the best solution though.

I have been searching all over the internet for some other salon close to me that provides that service because I was interested in the interlace system.  Unfortunately all I could find was Lucinda Ellery in New York, Los Angeles,  and London.  I live in Florida so I am not able to spend the time and money to fly to any of those places especially since it would be a lifelong journey every few weeks to have it checked and put back on.  I did email them and asked if they were planning on opening any other locations in the US but they said no.  So I will have to go the topper/wig route when the time comes.  I wish other salons would take an interest in providing this valuable service so we would have that option.  I would definitely go for it if there was a location closer to me.

Kandy 15, while I was doing my research recently on the Lucinda Ellery system, their website mentioned possible new locations!  This could be exciting for you as Florida was one of the possible new locations. I going to attempt to attach a screenshot of the page on the website listing for you.

DW,  Thanks for the info.  I saw this about a month ago and there were only a few potential locations listed, now there are more.  I emailed them to ask about the Atlanta location as that is only 5 hours from me,  The response was that they had no immediate plans to open a salon in Atlanta.  I see now that Tampa and Nashville are both potential locations,  They are both an 8 hour drive from me but I have relatives that live in both areas. Plus when I go to see my daughter in Nashville I can fly Southwest very reasonably so I will definitely express my interest  in those locations.  I hope, I hope, I hope.......

DW, I went to Lucinda Ellery in December 2017- I went for two consultations in NYC that summer and waffled on and on about whether or not to do it and then went to a third consultation in London where we all finally decided on a system of just bangs and sides (just in front of my ears), which was "intralaced" in and the sides were taped down.  I had the system done in London and then would go to NYC for maintenance.  Everything, from my first email to my very last visit was always very professional and I always felt that they had me and the way I felt first and foremost in how I was treated.  

I loved, loved, loved the way it looked and it was definitely a confidence booster!   I could walk in the wind and let my hair blow any which way,  I could walk with bright lights on my head and no ducking or dodging to avoid the light and having my scalp shine through, I can't say enough about how happy I was with the system!  Yes, it was a bit fiddly at first dealing with the tape on the sides, but I got used to it and washing/caring/stylying the  system was easy enough also.  

The problem was, I absolutely hated having it permanently attached to my hair.  Apparently I am more then a little claustrophobic and having the system attached, just started to freak me out, a lot!! So, sadly I had to get it removed.  So I do know that not if, but when it becomes time for me to go towards helper hair way again, I will more then likely shave my whole head and go to L.E and get a system made that I can tape on and remove when I want to, or have to remove it when it starts to freak me out or gets itchy or whatever.  

Even if I don't end up back at L.E because of location or finances etc, I still would shave my head and get as good a quality of wig that I could find- because, luckily or more like unluckily I have a family member that has FFA and has lost all the hair on the top of her head  and really just has thin hair from behind the ears down so I already know what is in store for me in probably less then a few years time and I know I will shave my my head rather then end up looking like her. Sorry for the side bar here!

Anyway, so that is my experience with L.E, I think they are worth every penny- because the system looks real, they are true professionals and want you to walk out of there looking your best and feeling your best.  It is definitely worth a visit for the consultation to find out for yourself whether or not this is for you and and then you can decide where to go from there.   Like I said, I went 3 times in total before I finally decided to do it and they were so nice and patient and answered every single one of my questions and concerns.  Hope my little story helps you out :-)

Thanks Minter for your honest response. I’m more than a bit worried I will have problems tolerating it as well.  Lucinda Ellery did tell me, that I could start out with the attached system and if I found it didn’t work for me, have it converted to a clip system.  Perhaps you could do that with the one you had?  Perhaps being able to remove it when you needed to to alleviate the claustrophobic feelings would make the difference.

That is good that they can offer that option- something to consider when the time comes again for me :-)
