Hello and happy new year to all! I noticed my eyebrows fading about 7 years ago and went to dermatologist who showed me hair loss in the temples as well. (never even took notice) I'm using Plaquenil and Taculimus topical for 8 months. I went through early menopause 36. I know no one else with this condition except for this site. I live in southern NH. So depressed looking in mirror. Thought about having eyebrow transplant but not sure if this thing is burnt out yet. Also wonder if anyone has tried microblading for brows. No hair on arms or legs but some underarm hair. Need some hopeful news :(

Christine,
I had my eyebrows done by Jamilla, who does permanent cosmetics in Portsmouth NH. She now offers microblading (I'm not sure the difference) but I plan to ask when I see her next...I am due for a touch up. It was the best thing I did since getting this diagnosis over 3 years ago. I lost all of my eyebrows, arm and leg hair, and about an inch at my hairline. Now I don't worry about smearing eyebrow pencil when sweating or swimming! Most people are surprised when I tell them my eyebrows are tattooed, they look that natural.

Thank you I will check out Jamilla! So good to connect with others who are living with this.
Christine I sent you a private message as well, hope it went through. Jamilla herself had alopecia as a child, so she has great empathy. She is a true artist. I believe her web site has before/after pictures.
That is alarming that there are so many more cases - why can we not figure this out!!!!!
Out of curiosity did she tweeze out any remaining or work around them ?
Please take care of yourself first and foremost. I still draw my eyebrows on which are about 2/3 gone - I have dyed blond hair and tattooing just is not a good color for blonds - also I personally do not like the way they look but I have seen some girls using microblading and that sounds promising but I would have to see someone who had it done for sure. I have been stable for four years with no more unusual hair loss but I still have a small three inch long by about three hairs deep area that absolutely refused to go away - it does nothing - does not itch - not sensitive to the sun - but is very resilent to disappear. I take a lot of vitamins and especially B Complex and eat pretty organic with very little sugar. Hope this helps - one more thing I alternate between apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil on just that area - it placques a little but nothing else.
