Hi

I have been taking Plaquenil since October.  I was diagnosed a year ago.  I started out on a low dose as my dermatologist wanted to be cautious because I only have one kidney.  I started out taking 1/2 pill per day and I'm now taking 2 200 mg pills every other day and 1 pill the opposite day.(Therapeutic dose is 400 mg/day)  I've also had injections about 4 times last July, August, October, and November and use clobetasol solution once per day.   My hairline had recessed and last September I lost a large patch of hair across the top of my head.   I have not had the side effects others speak of, and a few weeks ago I realized that my very white looking scalp was not looking as stark as it was.  I thought I was seeing things, but hair was actually starting to grow on the top of my head and a very tiny bit at the hairline above my forehead.  I was seeing my dermatologist anyway, and she confirmed it.  She explained it by saying that we most likely "caught it" before the hair follicles completely scarred.  I'm still feeling quite cautious about it, but I'll take what I can get.  Meanwhile, I seem to have lost more of my eyebrows.

Hi Anne, I am also on plaquenil but it worries me that the side effects state hair loss!  I am also now  losing my eye brows so I went to the Tracie Giles clinic and got 3d brows.  It was worth it!  Which dermatologist do you see as mine isn't very nice and he is a top one!
