Hi everyone,

Some days ago I went to a surgeon, recommended by my dermatologist. to ask her about the possibility of removing scared skin on my scalp. The surgeon recommended me not to do it, as it could trigger the inflammation and make it worse. She observed a scar on my scalp and asked me if I have had an upper facelift. Well, I had that procedure done 23 years ago, could it possible have caused my FFA? Then I remembered that a few years after the face-lift I noticed some wounds on my scalp, however they disappered. 8 years ago I got problems again with wounds, but I didn´t noticed any hairloss, not until I got my diagnose 2 years ago.

So my question is: has anyone of you had cosmetic surgery, lower or upper facelift. It won´t help me, but if that the case, plastic surgeons could warn future patients about the risks

Have i nice day..

In my case and in the cases of two other relatives of mine, we never did do a face-lift surgery, so it wasn't that which triggered it. I think in our case high stress related factors were responsible

Agneta,

i have not had a facelift but am 99.9% sure the Juvaderm injections triggered mine.   My cheeks  would turn bright red, itch , peel then I would have very clear skin for about a week and the whole thing would start over again.   This type of Juvaderm was marketed as staying in your body for 2 years.  My inflammations began after month 10.  Shortly after, I began noticing little bumps along my scalp and so it began.

This is not a facelift, but I had skull surgery when I was four months old to open prematurely closed skull sutures.  This was (gasp!) 1944.  My mother told me that my pediatrician (a pioneer woman in the field named Esther Clark) noticed how my forehead stuck out and detected a potential problem that could have caused deformity in the back part of my skull, blindness or who knows?  I had the surgery which then was considered groundbreaking.  I have a scar that hairdressers have noticed and a dent in the back of my head, covered by my hair.  I am not sure that a procedure done almost 74 years ago could have triggered my FFA, which appeared about a year ago.
