Hello.
i´m a 34 year old nurse-to-be (I have a year of school left) from Finland.I hope it makes me qualified for this Group. Been AU/AT half of my Life. I usually wear scarves at work and go bald in school and in private. I have wanted to become a nurse for a long time but haven´t had the guts to apply, now I´ve studied for two years and I so love it. I get comments sometimes from patients and co-workers but most of them are nice. Sometimes patients have asked me directly if I have Alopecia, and the told me that they have a relative with it.
I hope my baldness wont be a disadvantage in my work, I just cant wear wigs, tried for a couple of years, but it just wasn´t my thing.
Hi, I am a nurse in the cath lab, so it is pretty simple for me, I just wear my wigs to work, then put on my cute scrub caps when I get there. I have become so comfortable with it that it doesn't really bother me anymore. Everyone I work with knows I wear a wig and I have just gotten to the point that I don't mind telling people. I enjoy wearing wigs and love changing my styles! Great to meet other nurses with this issue also. Love hearing from you guys!
I am a RN and recently left AL to go back to working in the hospital. After day two I don't think wearing a wig to work is the best option. Any ideas? I thought about a surgical cap??? Nice to meet you all!
I just joined today and I am glad to know that there are other nurses. I don't know how many went to the NAAF conference this weekend but it was awesome. This was my first time and I really felt supported by everyone I met. Thanks.
Hi
I just joined this site 2 days ago and started a new job today as RN on an orthopaedic ward!
Both are good things. Had to go and get my wig cut so it was short enough for work !! Keeping it a secret so far.....
I have been an RN for 25 years-on a progressive cardiac unit now in NC
Hello, I am a visiting RN in the Toronto area. I specialize in hospice palliative care but also branch out in other areas. My chemo patients and I have a special bond since I have had AU...Oct 2010. I am currently getting Treatment at the Sunnybrook Alopecia clinic and feel very hopeful.
