Has anyone tried this on their child for eyelash or eyebrow loss? Does it seem to help? I know others who have used it where it worked, but they already had lashes and eyebrows. My 6 yr. old daughter hasn't had eye brows for 2 yrs. and no bottom lashes for almost a yr and now her top lashes are gone as well. I can tell it bothers her so thought we would give this stuff a try.

My 10 year old daughter Hannah does not have any eyelashes and we tried Dermalash but she would not continue to use it -- she said it "stings". I tried it myself (I don't have alopecia and it does burn somewhat). I think all of these cosmetic lash "thickners" have similar ingredients that are fairly irritating. (which of course might be the point to stimulate the follicles).

We had really good luck on recovering eyebrows with Topicort gel (gel not the cream) combined with an essential oil blend. Hannah had lost both eyebrows entirely and now they are almost as thick as they were before. She also has good regrowth around the perimeter of her scalp (the top and middle of the scalp are still very thin though). She does not have any hair anywhere else on her body (including her inside her nose) except the recovered eyebrows and the scalp hair that had not already fallen out. The only places she has any regrowth at all is where we applied the Topicort gel and essential oil blend.
Kori, where did you get this stuff? and what kind of essential oil blend? My daughter has regrown her hair and her eyebrows are coming, but no lashes yet. Can you give some more info.
Thanks
cindy
Hannah hasn't regrown her eyelashes and her hair is still thinning. The only place we have regrowth is around the perimeter of her scalp and temples where all the hair had fallen out. The Topicort is a prescription that we are supposed to use in conjunction with Rogaine but we are not doing the Rogaine just yet. Topicort is a trade name for desoximetasone 0.05% gel (not the cream - the gel is less greasy and I am told absorbs better). The link for the study on essential oils is: http://healthlibrary.epnet.com/GetContent.aspx?token=e0498803-7f62-... and the recipe I used is at http://www.ehow.com/how_2119611_use-lavender-treat-hair-loss.html. I bought all the ingredients at www.saffronrouge.com.

I don't think I would apply this to her eyelash area or eyelids without an ok by a doctor or pharmacist. I think it's just for the scalp. The other "natural" thing I'm going to try is iodine on her scalp (I just can't find white or declourized iodine which what you are supposed to use I think). I'm hoping someone can make a suggestion for eyelash regrowth too -- my dermatologist told me that we could do steriod injections but I'm definitely not going that route. I don't want to use the prescription RapidLash anyway but I asked my family doctor about it. She will not prescibe it to Hannah because of the side effects and because of her age.
Kori - RapidLash is not a prescription...it is over the counter. You are probably thinking of Latisse. My daughters derm won't prescribe Latisse either for the same reasons, but she did suggest we try RapidLash. You can buy it in most CVS or Walgreens stores for around $45. Also Loreal has a version (can't remember what it is called) of RapidLash too which runs around $15 at Walgreens.
Kori, my daughter's doctor won't prescribe Latisse for the same reasons either, but I do know of one or two kids using it with luck. My daughter has regrown her hair and some of her eyebrows. We are hoping the eye lashes will come next. Risking her vision to have eye lashes just isn't worth it to me.
